Just Feel

Something are too awesome. They leave you speechless, and you enjoy losing your faculty of reasoning. You simply feel. This manga does exactly that. Rather than going into the details of how well narrated, drawn, and paced this manga is I would rather just sit back and feel the awesomeness seep into me.

If you can, read the manga without reading the tags first.

I think this is one of the better one-shots I've read in terms of pacing and characterization - and I actually don't think the story would work so well as anything but a one-shot.

The art is not the prettiest to look at, but very appropriate to the story and full of character.

I have to say, this is one of the very few times I've regretted reading the tags before reading the manga. I would have liked to work out the ending as I went (but I never would have found this one-shot without the tags, so I can't complain too much).

Usually, oneshots aren't my cup of teas. They're too short to flesh out a meaningful story to swape the reader away.
Lingering on the Way however, succeeded. The story was endearing, sad and yet so very sweet. I think this story was so powerful BECAUSE it was so short, like how the author was giving us a glimpse of the life of an ordinary person, people like you and me. I really felt with Gen-san, his monologues were so down-to-earth, yet so nostalgique.
I also don't know what sensei was trying to say, but this simple story made it into my favourite oneshot.

Too Short

I'm not sure I fully 'get' what Kunieda-sensei was trying to say with this one. I think it was about memories of people in our past that have affected our present. And how we will never forget them and never stop being in 'love' with them with our link of memories.

I think it would have been an interesting story, captivating and memorable even, if it was longer.

Worth the read, though. It was thought-provoking.
