New POV

After reading shoujos with FL as the main POV, this time we got ML's yeay
The storyline is quite typical - contract marriage, misunderstanding 1-100, ML FL get to know each other, simp ML, happily ever after (i guess?)😍👍
Although both MLFL characters are kinda suck at first, but compare to other same genres manhwa, this is much realistic and better.
Recommended to the one who likes Remarried Empress or with similar storyline.

Story has Male POV not Female

I'm not sure why it's hard to grasp, this shoujo is one of the rare manga written mostly from the ML POV. And it works really well, because usually a playboy ML can be a major turn off. But because you can follow his thoughts and character development it's easier to digest without getting disgusted.

One thing that bothers me is a lot of people are calling him a jerk. Funnily enough he doesn't do anything remotely big enough to be deserving of that label. As far as I could tell he's so TAME! All the "jerk" moments are so minor, that after having the big bad playboy label... he's reduced to a tsundere saint completely wrapped around our young and hormonal female lead. Nah she's not strong and her "manipulation" tag is on par with kindergarten play ground tricks at best.

So Confusing

The MC here is portrayed similarly to Eren of AOT (kind of spoilers?) The problem is that Eren is very well-written and has clearly defined goals and values. Everything he does and thinks is consistent with his motives. So when we are thrown for a wild ride, we still know at least that he is acting based on his intentions. Meanwhile, Ingrid is a great schemer, but we never know why she doesn’t want to leave the country.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It used to be about her old flame, but she later realized that her feelings were unrealistic and that love couldn’t always win. So why did she fall in love with him in the first place for her to have thought that way??? Did she she really scheme all that, dragged along a involuntary Ricordian, only for her to invalidate her motive? Many readers already have an ethical problem with Ricordian being forced to go along this, and now she just invalidates her motive??? What was all of that for????
We never know why she falls in love with her tutor, or even why she thinks the way she thinks (values). Maybe her forceful family might be the reason why, but it is so vague. There are no specific events or causes. We basically have a blank character, and the author expects that her personality is defined by events. Imagine people defining your personality by your conduct during a traffic jam, a stressful test, etc. The problem is that she is our MC. I don’t want to guess what the character wants, I want to guess what she is going to do next. They are NOT interchangeable.

meh manhwa

Before I share my thoughts/opinions, I must applaud the author for not adding any isekai reincarnation mumbo jumbo. It seems as if all the historical shoujo manhwa I've been reading these days always seem to mention the MC being isekai'd or reincarnated into the story.

Anyways, as much as I praise the author for being a bit unique and creating characters with flaws, I must vent my anger towards the duke ML. He was really...an interesting and different character. A massive donkey at first but from what I heard he's gonna tone down on that attitude of his later on (I hope). Sad backstory that explains his behavior but I don't think justifies it. Well, I must say, kudos to the author for creating a character who I wanted to go in and slap so hard upon reading about.

As for Ingrid, I like how she's not really as innocent as she seems and she's also a bit dark. She's my favorite character in this manhwa. Both characters are pitiful as of the chapter I've last read but I hope they will develop with each other's aid as time flows.

The male lead is trash.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yes, Ingrid manipulated him to marry her but she gave him the option of cutting their engagement off and living his normal gross lifestyle after getting married. This is one of those stories that romanticizes the toxic love interest and his unhealthy obsession with her. I get that character development is a thing, but so is glorifying the idea that when a man treats you like garbage it's romantic.

wickedly entertaining!

the main male is rotten through and through, while the pure and innocent main female is not exactly what people think she is.. I'm curious who will come out as the winner

plot is very twisted but in a mysterious way, you'll be asking who's scheming whom. but on the other side, it is Refreshing to see a noble society which is accurate, not just second rate nobility romance, it is much more realistic without a total pure character nor total evil like in the cliche.

very recommended if you like intense drama

ML isn't complete trash

So here we have an unusual FL and ML who is jerk but not totally hopeless. FL is smart and manipulative, it was really funny reading about how she played ML. ML also seems like the redeemable type. Spoilers no read elsewhere say that he stops sleeping around early on the story, specifically after the one month drunken episode he had. ML isn't the best person out there but he does try to change and succeeds at that. Don't let him turn you off

I love how she's so mentally strong, she's not the problem but the ml is something else, the worst type, you know in that time it also exist STD is really disgusting how he still doing it with random girls after she was pregnant and not getting sick, not kidding.
The virginal girl who stays faithful and the trash womanizer type is really popular huh?

Beating the sterotypes

I really enjoy the female lead. She is neither a damsel in distress nor a cold-blooded type. It's nice that the author found a way to make a protagonist that doesn't feed into existing tropes.
The story is def. not what I expected when I picked it up, which is a good thing.

That being said, I think the pace is a bit slow and I am not a fan of the art-style. The backgrounds and clothes look great but the faces all look the same. It feels a bit weird when characters talk about how beautiful the FL is when she looks exactly like every other female, except with blonde hair.

Fantastic FML. Ngl, I wasn't expecting much but ended up busting a gut laughing at how awesome our FL is. So amazing.
