Description
From Anime Monitor:

Yamada'ís passionate storytelling is realized through her star character, Reiji, a violin prodigy with a troubled childhood. Reiji turns to music in order to escape his abusive family, and is enrolled in a prestigious music school. There, he meets his mentor Mitsuko whose own dreams of becoming a professional musician were lost due to a tragic injury. Mitsuko'ís fun-loving nature and enthusiasm for living comes up against Reijií's intense, single-minded passion for music. But together they find a common goal in Reiji'ís dreams of success. A rather unique manga about violin

I enjoyed reading this series to the very end. The atmosphere of the story is not on a happy note. The author was right about this manga, it's about self-denial. Even Reiji's classmates have suffered, too although not as bad as the main protagonist. It made me somewhat disappointed because I was expecting there would be romance in the story, and it didn't focus on that. It was a good read following Reiji on his journey to win the nationals while enduring hardships and obstacle. Versus ends on a satisfied note. Don't be fixated on the student-teacher relationships here!!

Wow... this is such a dramatic manga. I wanted to become a character myself so that I could kill Reiji's father for what he's doing to him and his sister... & his MOTHER... what is up with her.. she's nuts!
It's a dramatic manga (I think that the genre 'drama' should be on here) and it's really sad.
I didn't want to really start reading it at first because I don't really read music mangas (I've seen La Corda D'oro, but never read the manga), but I really like this one. I wonder what's gunna happen in the 2nd volume after the cliffhanger ending in the 1st volume
