Art sucks, Character Suck, Plot Boring.

Probably one of the most annoying parts of this book is that the 2 main leads relationship is EXTREMELY unhealthy because of Noah's very submissive personality. And the fact that Sam's can't see that he is basically manipulating a traumatized kid (never got exactly how old he was, I am guessing 17-20 ish) into being in a relationship with him because he is the first person to treat him kindly is pretty cringe. I feel like the last 5 chapters of the book did a good job of making their relationship seem a bit more healthy with Noah getting a backbone and having forced time apart. Which is why this book did not get a lower rating. But its not a very interesting plot, and I can see lots of people not being able to get through it to the end .. as there is just not much story or relationship to work with. The 2 main leads chemistry is very lacking.

Damn fuck this I might just drop this… what the fuck is Sam doingggg you’re smarter than this asshat. And Noah? Screw you. There is basically 0% romance right now and 100% manipulation and lies buffet

interesting mystery thriller

To be honest, the scenario initially presented in the first 20 or so chapters were intriguing but ultimately failed to keep my attention. Few BL are set in small towns where small town politics are discussed, which is one of the main draws of this series. As characters, Sam and Noah have some depth but never really show any other sides of their personality besides the heroic savior and the imprisoned beauty tropes. This is not a series to read for sex scenes either, as there is (iirc) three scenes that each last about three episodes each. The initial draw for Sam is Noah's myserious charm, but that is only believable for the first sex scene. There after, following scenes showing Sam chasing after Noah felt unmotivating. After a certain point, I started skipping all romantic scenes just to know the mysery behind Noah's essential slavery and how Sam would go against the controllers of the countryside town's dark underside.

One thing of note is that even though the art is rather standard of Korean BL manhwa with the stock character designs, the color grading and majority of the series occurring at night helped set the mystery mood excellently.
