Many problems(spoilers up to chapter 4)

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Wolfonium? Seriously? At least if they used silver to kill werewolves, it would be a nod that's true to the myths. Creating a new metal for this series with only the purpose of killing werewolves is stupid and just gives more infodump. Which leads to the next problem that this series has loads of infodump that's tiring to read. Why does a villain explain his own weakness? There was an experienced hunter already there to give the exposition, so it was also an unnecessary plot hole.

But that's not the only plot hole. How is it that a werewolf could hear breathing coming from the top of a house without being on top of the house, yet, he couldn't hear the main characters talk about trapping the werewolf, run into the house under him, or setting the trap in the chimney, rigging and barring it or not to mention way back when they were whispering in the woods about the werewolves following them.

But all these problems could have been forgiven if only the main characters were at least interesting. The main boy was just a boring moralfag you've seen a million times and the main girl was robotic and inconsistent. Why is it one moment, she's preaching on how being a hunter is a job and not a hero but then encourages the main character to be a hunter to save people and even wipe out the werewolves which would actually be bad for business. Not to mention, she was shown about to sacrifice herself for a kid she had no close connection with and hardly knew. Since she let herself get eaten and didn't show any way which she planned to escape with.

There were only a couple of redeeming qualities, such as the use of deductive reasoning to see that the grandma is a werewolf and that there were two more werewolves. It's very basic detective conventions but it's better than nothing. Sure, people might be interested in a story based on Little Red Riding Hood but there are much retellings this Fairy Tale out there. Even Hoodwinked and that movie with Kristen Stewart and Gary Oldman was better.
