Unfortunately it fails to capture a lot of the original's magic at hyping and storytelling, instead opting for pure shock value and a weird obsession with various sexual things. The announcer epitomizes this, being incredibly annoying and completely failing to impress upon the reader the importance of the fighters, instead being relegated to jokes about penises, piss, and sex. The few credits I can give it is that the art and character designs are quite good, especially so for an artist with no prior major works, and that they seem to take the idea of "anyone can win" seriously with no adherence to history or any clear protagonist.
