It was okay, i guess

so i finally got around to reading this one which i heard many good things about and i have to say it was pretty decent but not amazing; and its the change in ton and story that caused this to me. In the beginning or the first half or so this was really interesting to me and i liked the whole revenge story and thought he would go around kicking ass, looking for clues, while having a battle of intellect with the main antagonist but
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
it didnt turn out that way; the first half did have some intellegent moments but later in the second half or so they just abandaned that for some stupid reason and changed the whole premise of everything. i mean the story changed from a revenge/ mystery to just a race to remember the past... really why did they do this. this happened basically after the antagonist revealed hes identity to the main character and it just changed from revenge to remembering. so it felt like the main character lost all revenge ambition, i mean he even had many times where he was socializing with the antagonist/guy who imprisoned him for 10 YEARS or did he forget that. however i still kept going on with the story for some pieces of drama but then i finish...the ending was pretty sad to me, first because the antagonist had many times he could have won so it just mad me think he wanted to lose. second incomplete mysteries and cliffhanger ending, and lastly everything was just so anti-climatic to the end i mean the biggest mystery that everyone wanted to know is what the hell did the main character do to the antagonist to make him trap him for years and dish out so much money? and when you finally found out it was some stupid issue that was totally not worth the antagonist's action...plus after you look at this series as a whole you see that not much has happened, i mean no one in general died, their was not much of a threat ( since the antagonist was basically giving him the answers) and you realize that you were getting the run around for the second half of this
Basically my advice is that anyone who really wants to read this should read it until you find out the antagonists real name than skip to the last two chapters, itll save you a lot of slow pacing and run around. well im done with this and im gonna watch the movie, hope fully its better

I read it in just two days. Is it interesting? Yes, indeed. If I would rate individual chapters or volumes... But overall it sucks. After I finished it, nothing left to look up to. It is so disappointing... A piece of advice for those lucky guys who didn't finish it yet. Don't finish it, just stop near the end and go watch the movie...

I wouldn't recommend this because the ending made me feel like I just wasted my time. The author should have used a few of those vols to explain all the loose ends instead of dragging the story. In this case the movie is much better and accomplished what the manga couldn't.

SPOILERSSSSSSSSS
Hmmm...I like the twist of the story, however, the ending was a cliffhanger. It would be nice to have a sequel, considering that the PASSWORD was left unsolved.

Started reading this series after I saw the Korean re-make of this manga. Though the manga starts off strong, it peaks at volume 3. The movie was way better, and did a much better job at tying up all the loose ends. The manga ending was very, very dissapointing. Very, very, very.

To Laclongguan: Damn you beat me to the comparison - Yea the beginning is terribly similar to Monte Cristo - which is why it attracted me enough to skip some meals. As the story progresses, however, it never fails to dissapoint. The ending is, in a way anti-climatic. Very disappointing end to a series which started with such momentum.

You would be suggested that this is a mature reading, but... some of its notions and plot twists were so juvenile that it makes you want to just stop reading, and breathing while you're at it.

I read this manga and realize: IT's a bit like Count Monte Cristo, by A. Dumas (?). It's like the main character return to revenge right away instead of travelling in Mideast.
24 chap with one sex scene (mild). Good art. Intense main hero. Should have got a 10 but I wait till later to see how this turn out.
