Description
Airi Hirakawa, a model in a popular woman magazine, is suddenly hit by someone in front of her house and wakes up in a room full of garbage. Airi is confused when she is suddenly proposed by Hirokazu Imai, the man who is her kidnapper and stalker.

If you're itching for an extreme male yandere (well, the guy's more yangire but still), then it's not bad. I wouldn't describe any of the rape scenes as smut. It's more like a kidnapper sexually abusing his captive. So unless you're really into that, you're probably not going to get off to any of the scenes. That said, the art is beautiful. It's feminine but also has a gloomy feel to it. The guy is hella creepy, which I appreciate. It stops the 'well, it's okay since he's cute' bs that some josei authors pull. The stockholm syndrome kicked in fast (literally chapter 3) but it didn't feel too unnatural.
I like Airi. She's written better than a lot of heroines in these types of stories. Her actions made sense and she had character. Her bond with Hiro . . . is dysfunctional for sure. It's constantly swinging between abusive and wholesome. This manga surprised me with how engaged I was. I really liked the theme of learning to move on from your abuse. It's a story of two broken people trying to heal each other. That rarely goes well irl, but anything is possible with good writing and character development~
THAT BEING SAID, I recommend you stop reading at chapter 7. I know it's tempting since that's not even half of what's translated, but it's really not worth it. The author totally derails the story and destroys anything good they had going for them. Unnecessarily gross for no reason. If you want to see something sort of similar that keeps its themes straight, I recommend sachiiro no one room instead. It's not josei and it's not horror, but the parallels between them are often and it's better written.

At first, I thought this was going to be one of those rapey gore fetish mangas, but it ended up becoming something that's kind of... beautiful? Okay, at the start, it's definitely not that good... I know I didn't enjoy the start of it as well; it was kind of a "Trust The Process" kind of thing. Well, I'm glad I did trust the process, though, because after chapters 10 and beyond, I was hooked. I stayed up until 7 a.m. to read all of it.
First two volumes/12 chapters were like okay. Disturbing but somewhat tolerable and plausible Then it is a race to the bottom from there. Literally makes no sense. She is actively invested in remaining mentally ill.
