They're interesting, these stories. They're ambitious. And that might be their failing, because they just never really live up to what they're trying to be. There is shallowness where there should be depth and insipidity where there should be innovativeness. They aren't bad stories - far from it - and some of them are really very good. They just aren't excellent. And that might be why I liked them less than I expected to.

First of all, I'm really a big fan of Fujiwara Kaoru. Her art is so damn nice, and her stories are just weird enough for me to love them all!

These short stories are compact, clear and beautiful in all their simplicity. In my opinion, the first story depicts how life is unfair, but that you have to live with it. You must try to find happiness in the situation your in, and be strong. Be proud.

The second story is moral wise, really complex I think. You'll understand when you've read it.

The third story can be interpreted in many ways. For me it focused on how we all live our lives preparing for life. And when we're finally prepared...Life is over. We shouldn't forget to live - to see - to experience.

The fourth story is one I can really relate to. Being creative is only something you can do when you're passionate about it. It isn't something you can force out, and you shouldn't just do it for praise. You should do it because you want to.

The fifth story is just downright absurd. But maybe the theme is paranoia? Erh.. This one can be interpreted in many ways too.

The sixth story is also very good. It's about a young girl's choices and personal development from hardship. And oh, I loved what she did to the car.

Don't have anything to say about the seventh story.

But... This collection of short stories is perfect.

like fuuma said, her usual gorgeous style.. more short stories that move you and make you think. some seem surprisingly simple, but profound in some sort of way you almost can't comprehend. (like usual)

i wish she'd write a series, like vampire girl~! the first story would have made an interesting continuation. it's worth reading, all her stories. the most wonderful and beautiful artwork.. i could read whatever if it had the same artwork! ^^ (although, sometimes the characters look similiar, especially the males.. but i'm quite fine with that.)

That's so Kaoru-like! That's her style!
Graceful and soft, beautiful and sad, unexplainable and sometimes unfathomable. As she has done with Vampire girl and Fetish, Kaoru-sensei once again captures my heart with this manga that bears her unique flavor!
