Managed to read 3 chapters somehow, it was enough to give up on this one, what I write below contains spoilers of those 3 chapters, hardly a spoiler since it's not even the intro to the story but you're forewarned.
This one was too convoluted for my taste. He comes back from another world, to what is supposed to be earth and somehow forgot his past, but remembers everything other than his own related stuff. He coincidentally happens to be found by an old schoolmate that invites a naked guy (him) into her home, she happens to have the power of a demon lord while her daughter is a half cat; the mother is not conscious about anything of all this and to top it off there are people after her life or her eyes (which store her powers apparently), fact she's also oblivious of. So to keep all this nonsense going the daughter asks the MC not to tell her mother the truth because she somehow knows that will trigger her powers, which again, she somehow knows it's a bad thing..,
It's an utter mess and makes no sense, how are the two of them alive when being targeted like that?
Waste of time imo.

This is one of those titles that oozes that unique, strange imagination that niche, Japanese manga is known for. Other titles like this are BLAME! and that Yakuza/gender bend/isekai one. Just chock-full of interesting concepts and appealing art.
Definitely worth a read and one of the freshest things to come into manga in general in a while. This is the "not as happily ever after" story to an isekai that still tries to be hopeful.
The rest is an explanation as to why I think the ratings are so polarized.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
To be honest, as a 30 year old virgin who hasn't really found a real woman to be interested in, there are several times this manga irks me in a way that's uniquely my fault... and I suspect people like me is where a lot of the hate is coming from.
The main character (MC) gives up more than half his life to save another world, finds out the two women he traveled with fell in love with him, then out of love, then in love with the two guys he was traveling with. All as he's returning home (and yes, they are officially dating—the one pair was getting married).
Then he gets home and finds out his childhood friend is used goods.
Or, that's what the immature side of me wants to say. It's a situation I fear, that the woman I one day get interested in has had other guys and I'm not going to be the one who can give her the best pleasure. Call me a romantic, or a loser, but that's how I feel. (For the record, a sudden and unexpected medical condition has put me in this situation for the past 7 years.)
And it's not entirely right or wrong to feel that way. But it also causes me to empathize with the situation in a way different to those who can get past these kind of hangups and freely enjoy this manga.
The MC has issues with the various kinds of love, and that's explored through this. His feelings for his childhood friend and first love are reappearing. This is honestly, for this situation, not a bad thing. But I don't think it's wrong to feel like he did his time and got shafted like those Jody stories in the military.
It's why I secretly hope the MC does get to be with her daughter, however right or wrong that may be (supernatural creatures and fighting for one's life kind of blur those lines in regards to maturity and appropriate age; but IRL it's definitely not right).
I see a guy who gave everything and is getting second-best despite his efforts and achievements. Now, that's both true in one sense and completely false in another for this story. He wasn't actually cheated on, but he certainly was prevented from his fair chance.
So yes, the MC does actually grow up, mature and get happy with his life, but my feelings are upset for him because it wasn't fair and because I am seeing my fears take place in a story.
Would I end up able to forgive my situation and learn to live my best life in a situation I may be heading towards? I would hope so. I would also hope to find someone who wasn't settling for me, but who actually desires me.
But that immature part of me intersects unusually well with the high moral standards I set for myself and the woman I hope to one day find.
Thus, a legitimate reason to not like something also fuels that innermost childish yearning to deny parts of reality that are harsh and unfair which creates something ugly because a bad thing (denial) is justified by a good reason.
That's my theory.
Anyways, I have been able to separate the two and enjoy this manga. I'll be happy for the MC and take a step back to realize I need to keep the high morals without twisting them to justify immature yearnings. And I hope everyone from incels to regular people will learn something.

This is very good, quite fresh and the mc doesn't immediately show dominance of his strength. I'm sure this is a manga that has very high potential, in terms of art and the story are very enjoyable.
This is the exact opposite of what I thought it was going to be based on the synopsis

I expected an adult to return and perhaps rekindle a romance with a woman and become a father or something. What I got was a petulant incel. The opening sequence was so horrible, he's angry at the others for maybe being in a relationship (not even clear if they were?) and then has to get forced out when the women say they had a crush on him which is beyond my ability to understand with how childish he behaves.
So he gets back and there is a weird memory thing going on? Or it just wasn't written/translated well. It was difficult to understand but he's a child and learns the woman I thought he would be with has a child who isn't human and is far older than I anticipated roughly the same age as the MC and she is just a physically abusive tsundere trope. I don't even think it's actually her child?
I don't know what was going on it's like the author was trying to force in the worst tropes they could with the most unlikable mc they could create. I hated this and dropped it 2 chapters in. So Superspartan177 that is why I'm giving this a bad review not whatever nonsense you came up with.

Perhaps it's just the adaptation ('cause this one just screams LN, so i'm betting it's an adaptation of a webnovel) and not the actual story itself, but this is a huge mess. Scenes are terribly connected... if they even try to be. The plot is a mess, with literally everything done just to make the plot work. It's like... reverse deus ex machina? Instead of the plot holes being solved by blatant author intervention, it's like the plot itself is a long string of author intervention for every scene.
But mostly, it's just bizarre. The initial premise had some good promise, with being a returner... but time still passed as normal so he's a total fish out of water, and retaining his powers. But instead of him being OP, there are still magical powers back home in regular Earth... and rando dudes are stronger than the demon lord of the other world. It's just nonsensical, and his absolute juvenile harem seeking personality is as if HE hasn't grown up over the last 17 years. (not implying that harem-seeking is juvenile, but rather he's a juvenile, petty, sanctimonious brat who's ALSO harem-seeking) For example, in the other world, he ignored the heroines because he thought they were with the other people, and was indignant about it. Even though they were actually into him, and he's an idiot. So they moved on. And he gets jealous about it. So much incel.
I should add on that there is an 'Absurdity' tag... and I'm not sure if i agree. If something is a crack-fic or crack story or whatever, I.e., the absurdity is intentional, I might buy it. But this is clearly not intentional, by all the things the author is trying to take seriously. Or rather, if it is, it's even worse than I thought because it's clearly failing at that too and it just lowers my ratings even more.

I'm assuming the bad score is because everyone wanted the childhood friend to not have a kid and be in a relationship with the MC but that can still happen I don't know why the reviews are soo bad when I can see the plot being serious and the art amazing for the action and fights.
It's an interesting plot with the latest chapter 9 it's bringing in old and forgotten details which is helping the plot become serious. I really hope the people in Japan aren't as brainless cuks who only read this for it being isekai and women but for the damn story itself!

absurdism with slapstick tier comedy, yet also tries to lead a serious plot with sprinkles of emotional introspection?
maybe this is how the author understood gintama?
i have no idea wtf this is supposed to be, but for now it feels like the author is just throwing the most random things at the wall and hoping for the best.
utterly bizarre, but not in a good way.
