There were realistics portrayals of different relationships in your twenties and how they can develop and change. The honest and heartfelt conversations between the women definitely added to the realistic atmosphere, it's just the drama (that is always needed) felt pointless and drawn out at times, but maybe that's just how it is in your early adulthood. Not quite an adult yet, but not a child anymore.
