For shoujo lovers who don't like too much drama

I forgot to comment this after I read it and just realized it. This was the first manga series that I've read and still remains at the top of my favorites list. I don't consider it unoriginal or anything because of the time period that it was written in. I absolutely love how this manga captured all of the emotions of the characters and had such a powerful effect on me as well. Maybe because it was my first time reading a manga, but I am so glad that I started off with this one. It's not as crazy and fast-pace like the more modern manga, but it more realistic. It captures moments of everyday life that nearly everyone goes through and that's what I love about it. People can easily relate to it. The illustrations, despite not being as glamorous as other manga, is beautiful in it's simplicity. There's a soft feel to it all. Overall, I found this manga captivating and the story beautifully told. I don't want to spill any details for those who have not come across it so I'll end it here. Hana Kimi will remain one of my all-time favorites.

I usually don't comment but seeing how a few of you say that you've seen it done before, nothing new, comedy not too funny, etc. I have to say that this was one of the first mangas that was done this way... I don't know if you realized but this started in 1996 and for the past however many years, there are a lot of mangas that start to be the same as Hana Kimi.
For the people that read this since the beginning, they think it's original and funny and cute. I guess the people that started to read this after hearing all the "rave" about it might not feel the same considering they probably read the newer mangas with the same elements and don't find Hana Kimi's appeals.
I followed this since it was scanlated so that's just my opinion. Well aniwhos, just read it and have fun! That's what mangas are for~ if you have to think to hard and like don't have fun then why read? It's suppose to be an enjoyable hobby (:

Good series

This series was good. It made me laugh on several occasions, and it never once bored me to tears.

I'm an avid horror, seinen, and sci-fi series fan; so sometimes I read simple stuff to kind of pull me out of my demented train of thought. Just seeing these kids interact with each other everday under normal (and not so normal) circumstances was a breath of fresh air.

I recommend giving it a try.

Terrible

To be fair I don't really like the genre but I've read much better stuff before. It's all been done before and adds nothing new. The story is incredible slow paced with an unimpressive ending. I found myself genuinely bored as all I was reading was a bunch of people enjoying school life with little to no conflict or anything. The comedy was cliche, the characters were dull. I kept on thinking it'll get better since its rated so high but I can't recommend this to anyone except twelve year old school girls.

heart-warming tummy-aching light story

this may not be might top choice but hanakimi does belong to my golden list. funny gender-bender genres really appeal to me. no need to think, just let your body react to those awkward and tense situations.

art is nice, sano's side profile is cool. personality-wise, i like nakatsu the best, he's just too pure and naive. if only i could be a mangaka, i would have created a nakatsu X mizuki spin-off because they're just so adorable but...oh well.

Hm... what to say about this series....
First of all, the artwork for this was great right from the beginning, very pretty and nice to look at in general. (Got a bit funny looking close to the end of the series though when the author changed her style a bit... should have to stuck with the way it was before IMO). The story, with the whole gender bender thing wasn't too original but I think where the main strength of these types of series lies is in interesting characters and comedy and Hana Kimi has these in abundance. All the characters are likeable (personally my favourite was Nakatsu -- he made me laugh the most biggrin) and the romance was sweet.

However, I think the ending could have been done better and a more interesting plot would have gone a long way. However, if you're in the mood to read a shojo school life series with not too many complications, this is just the thing.

This was so frustrating to read! Not that it was bad, it was soo awesome -- it's just one of those painful reads. Almost like scary movies where you just want to yell out "HE'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!" lol -- that's the best way I can put it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is not supposed to be a deep, thought-provoking manga. Quite frankly, I love that about it. It's light, humorous, interesting, and -- I have to admit it -- I love the main guy character. XD It's one of my all-time favorite shoujo mangas. The artwork is really pretty, too. And, EXTREME PLUS: it doesn't glorify rape, which is something I've found too many mangas do. The main guy character keeps his hands to himself, even when he's stuck in some precarious, cliche situations. :3 So.. 10/10 for me. I love it. <3 (Even though the ending was so quick... Bah.)

Nice, sweet, re-readable, shoujo, funny...
Funny how I read this, like, a million years ago.
I love the characters in this one. It managed to keep me interested until the end (even though I sorta lost interest at the end...).
Give it a shot if you haven't.
9/10, but I'm usually always too nice on my ratings.
And if you liked it, I would reccomend Boku ni Natta Watashi... Trust me, it's better.
