Yuki to Matsu

Description

On a dark and snowy night, Sho-an drags home what he believes to be the corpse of a beautiful man. But, even though Sho-an is ready to reduce the body into medical supplies, he is dismayed to discover the body lives. Sho-an names his corpse-cum-patient Yuki and gains a houseguest that eats his food and keeps his bed warm throughout the year.

Has a spin-off called Neko to Matsu about Matsu and his brave cat.

I was so excited that this had been licensed, until I realized it's just for a subscription service. Art this good should be ink on a page and the story is beautiful, too.

Read it - is a bit of a slow burn but let it take you there, because it will be take you there I promise

the art! the story progression! the characters! just neat just an sprending read.

let me tell a bit about something the author said in a interview ; she sort of hates doing all those written effects you see a lot in manga so she try to show those with art as much as posible so it could be real to us. If you notice in the panels where the characters are being intimate , she show their movement by constantly juxtaposing them against imagery of the ocean and crashing waver (GORGEOUS and oh such dedication for the craft)

Wonderful and sweet. A solid entry in the genre

This was a great read. I don't know which came first but it's almost the same premise as Momo and Manji, which is also an excellent read. I could not decide which one is better, they are both executed well. The characters have real depth and the love between the two mains is so beautifully depicted. They are both wonderful stories of two people who come together by chance and develop a deep and respectful romantic partnership. I also enjoyed the portrayal of Yuki and his previous partner. Their relationship was complex and not entirely beneficial for Yuki, but it was still meaningful to him. The scene when he remembered all the good memories they shared together was heartbreaking. If you liked this, give Momo and Manji a try which is also licensed by Futekiya. It is not finished yet and already has 3 volumes so it goes a bit more in depth into back stories and has a bit more characters.

We get a flash forward!!

Edo romances like this are beautiful and the complexities to both characters creates a rather messy beginning to their relationship even as they act like it was a simple one. Both had somewhat horrifying things happen to them. Some because it was legal in that period and others because people just suck, but the kind of frustrated and forlorn way these two end up falling in love was really unique.

Plus, we get a flash forward. Yaoi almost never shows us old age men still in love, and I loved that.

there isn't a lot to say. the art is phenomenal and expressive. I love how even blood spatters look artistic and expressive. everything seems to have a motif.

the story is simple, but emotional. characters are endearing, my favorite is even that bastard sakichi. I don't usually go for edo pieces, but the atmosphere was so calm and the world building so sparse that it didn't quite feel like a period piece, just a normal story that happened to take place in the edo period.

truly a wonder to behold. Everyone should read this.

Every time I reread this I think, "This looks so weird. It's oddly vulgar. Did I really like this so much?" And then within a few pages I'm head over heels again. This time I found an extra I had never read before, and it made me cry. Yuki to Matsu is a masterpiece. It's in a category of its own. Love love love.

One of a kind

This is the type of BL manga that you won't get to see successfully replicated anywhere, ever. The author's background as a shounen and seinen mangaka definitely showed in her art style as well as her narration and execution method in general. There are a lot of visual details, from grand to tiny, deliberately placed in frame to tell the story, and many motifs that usual BL authors don't typically employ were used to create an atmosphere befitting its historical era. It's just.. such a different experience and if you're an avid reader of the genre you gotta give this title a try, without a doubt. The story alone is guaranteed to move you whether you're personally a fan of the mangaka's style or not.

I can't heap enough praise on this instant classic!

The art style whisks you away to the edo era from the very first page. From there just settle down and enjoy the cute, sexy, romantic, and hilarious world of Yuki-san and Sensei. <3

Also many thanks to the lovely scanlator(s) who translated this manga into English. Without you I wouldn't have discovered this treasure. Your passion and effort really shine through in every page, thank you so much. <3

I can't even begin to describe how eloquently beautiful this story is. The characters lived and loved life in all its simplicity and showed the readers that happiness equals being content with what you have. I loved the characters, the Doctor, Yuki, the side characters, each one of them contributed with an important piece of the puzzle called the plot.

Like mentioned below, the art is nothing less than enticing and gives the story an elegant feel.

Highly recommended. Now, if you would excuse me, I'm gonna go and shed som tears after that ending (no it's not a bad one).
