Starts off like a happy manga about kids, soon people start killing and all hell breaks loose
All Kitoh Mohiro's works are about children who goes crazy, it's hard to swallow, all kids act like adults and do outrageous things
Well, personally I like this and Bokurano, though they always get that kind of ending, but it's fun nevertheless

You've probably heard about Narutaru. It gets a lot of press because it starts out seeming happy and friendly, and then pretty soon the s*** starts hitting the fan hard, the body count starts to rise, and everyone says "holy crap, I wasn't expecting this!" It's true, the book does do that, but that's just surface. The reason Narutaru is so great it hurts is because it seamlessly integrates a keen-eyed deconstruction of manga archetypes, a chilling comment on the amorality of supposedly innocent children, a meditation on the nature and use of power, and a misanthropic, apocalyptic vision of failure on both the global and personal scale.
Far from simply being "evil pokemon," Narutaru is a brutally honest and devastatingly powerful treatise on humanity's ultimate failure that will leave a lifelong impression on anyone who reads it.

Intriguing.

I liked it a lot. I understood it too, first time reading.
Then again, I'm a sucker for 'ambitious' projects by comic makers.
The ending was a little choppy, but for some reason, it seemed proper for this, everything was going downhill as it was.
But for those of you who didn't understand it, pay attention closely. Rebirth was a big topic in the series.

It was alright in the beginning because, well, it seemed like an interesting "adventure" would be starting. It's such a weird series... i can't even explain it well. For me it is hard to follow and for a psychological goes SO into depth that nobody knows what's happening. The story even lost the antagonist right after he basically started the worlds destruction (won't spoil too much). And even for a tragedy, the ending didn't even seem like he/she spent time to really end it right. So I rated it a 6, but it will probably go down futher when I have time to cotemplate how much I really didn't like it.
worst manga, don't read it

complete garbage, had soo much potential at volume 1 but failed to realize it. it just became emo afterwards, bunch of emo-kids who got superpowers and felt emo about the world so they wanted to destroy it and 'restart it'.
EPIC FAIL

Spoiler (highlight to view)
the main girl character didn't do anything, she just ran around the entire story watched ppl die and in the end she gets pregnant and is all like 'lets restart the world.. teehee (and she finally became emo too)'..
EPIC FAIL

Not really bad actually. I liked the whole main idea of the story and it was really promising at the beginning, it also contains a lot of violence and a whole deep and kind of weird plot (gonna take more than just 1 reading to understand it).
The artwork itself is pretty good for the beginning till the end.
But still, like those previous comments the ending was just too confusing. Looks like the mangaka is too ambitious to finish this title with such an ending. The last chapter is like having a whole volume cramped into it.

I agree with the post below me. The Ending was really quite confusing. Everything was happening too fast with practically no explanation.
However, the rest of the manga was really quite wonderful and interesting. I just wish the ending was better.

What the hell?!
I didn't get it, and I probably never will... After reading the last chapter, my mouth was hanging down, and there were mixed feelings of rage and emptiness welling up inside. I feel like flying to Japan and suing the author for permanently scarring my mind.
This is by far worse than the End of Evangelion. This is just plain weird, way too weird. Seriously, nothing made sense. Probably someone with a twisted perspective of reality would understand what in blazes is going on. As for me, my sanity just couldn't absorb all the incomprehensible events that took place by the end of the manga.

Well, some parts are really weird, but while reading i got the feeling that this is totally great work; and this is, from beginning till end. A must-read, if you're looking for a consistent story and awesome character developpement. The mangaka deserves my applauses because narutaru is an original work far different from many other typical or stereotypal mangas.
P.S : Greid, because it's great and weird. ^^
