shallow

Rating: 6.0  / 10.0
Shallow but strangely enjoyable because of all the sex smile)

It's not hentai but there's a constant sexual tension in the entire manga, and for me that made it worthwhile.

I also liked the drawing, it's nothing special but every person was a little different and beautiful in their own way.

The story is... well, something you would see in a hentai, and not very fulfilling, but it does the job ok for this specific manga.

Softcore porn like manga

The manga is very similar to a very softcore porn. Weak story, and a lot of thrusting with not too much reasoning. The Theme of the manga is Discovery. The protagonist keeps on discovering about herself, life, society, and etc. Now, would I recommend this manga? NO. Not for the storyline, and not for the futa thing. Go watch and/or read actual types of thoose stuff. Ending was quite rushed but felt needed, and made some sense (sort of). Not recommended, 2 or 3 at of 10. There is a lot better romance/comedies and/or hentai stuff or movies to check out.

Ero-dramedy with HORRIBLE end-ing... and GREAT END.
by Aadieu
April 20th, 2013, 12:27am
Rating: N/A
A naive, oblivious, and rather happy-go-lucky hermaphrodite (female in appearance) blunders in search of romance and identity, guided by the fretting mother figure of her cousin (best friend, sometime rival, sometime sexual and romantic interest).

LOTS OF YURI THEMES. Not much squickiness at all. Mako-chan's lovably sweet and not at all freaky, and no, this isn't some 40yo tentacle raep fan saying this.

The drama element is in the search for identity, yearning for acceptance, and fear of ending up alone and understood by no one. Strangely but entertainingly, the fear of discovery element is played out as comedy.

End-ING is seriously baaaaad, with two blatant betrayals and an idiotic scifi element.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The alien crap was ridiculous. The losing it to Keigo of all people thing was a letdown, albeit realistic, and she did:
a) get bullied into it via threat of a reveal,
b) get convinced by a boy-loving idiot that nothing would set her heart right better than boy sex,
c) get betrayed herself by Hiromi with Keigo, in a MUCH subtler but FAR bigger way, and
d) regret it almost instantly... however, didn't really wanna see that.

But poor Kana. She was forgotten altogether, which was the bigger part of the betrayal - despite being the most accepting and honest character in the series.

...the END, as in the two pages, however, is delicious:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
"Hi, I'm back to stay, cuz I realized I'd forgotten something important: we never got around to having sex." Hug, kiss, cut.

People who found that the end came outta nowhere missed the subtleties. Yes, a series in which the cast freaks out and makes a hermaphrodite masturbate to avoid accidentally impregnating herself via wetdream, and a character loses her virginity by stumbling in a bathtub CAN, in fact, have one of the subtlest romances ever, where, comedic ecchi moments aside, the pivotal points are a few blushes and turns.

Does contain one MAJOR shocker by Japanese standards: PEOPLE USING CONDOMS. Whooooa.

Terrible ending

The ending was just terrible, not only that it came out of nowhere, but also the last few chapter of how Makoto knowingly that this person is a cheater but still fall into his pithole, especially knowing the last person he cheated on was your #%#$%. Being curious is one thing but at least find a better partner, overall the ending just ruin it for me.

Recommend if you like Gender Bender

Beware of spoilers.

Obviously high rating (8 to 10) comments have similar feelings toward this manga; being that its a good manga. So I read a few of the bad ratings (7 and under).

From the author's reputation (a person that draws hentai), this manga definitely could've gone hentai or like right now just ecchi. I agree with some of you that this manga would've been better off being hentai (if I loved hentai which I don't because they lack plot/story) but at the same time I don't. The first half or so is actually really good from the comedy, ecchi-ness and somewhat originality. The latter half where Mako was oriented with having sex made the manga go towards being a hentai. I think this is where most people that said this should be a hentai came in. This is the point of the manga where it became a bit too oriented on sex.

But thinking about it, put a bit of Japanese Mangaka's ideal highschool life (a bit of ecchi, romance and sex) and throw in a hermaphrodite. You get a hermaphrodite that is curious about her/his genitals. Even if you take out the typical ideal highschool life, if you're a 17 with both genitals you'll either be very curious of how your sex life would be or be very paranoid about your life. Since the story started with Mako being a hermaphrodite since she/he was small, I doubt she'll be in the paranoid part. Therefore, I believe that the sex oriented part of this manga isn't legit except the author took it a bit excessive. The mangaka also said in the manga that Mako isn't really look for love, she's looking to experience sex because of the two genitals.

Somewhere in the manga, there are hints and bits that the reader can possibly see that Mako and Hiromi actually likes each other very well. It was only at the last chapter where it was totally revealed. This is the part I hated most, it lacked romance. This is also what I hate about hentai, they lack plot/story/character. This manga actually have some of those, thats why its better off not being a hentai.

I know a lot of the people was like wtf about the sci-fi part. About how Mako is an alien. Thats pretty lame and bs, tbh. But I think throwing in that Mako is an alien is better than saying she was genetically mutated somehow or simply she was born with both genitals. People probably disagree with me, but I rather believe that there a race of hermaphrodite ufo than a girl or a boy was born with a hermaphrodite body. This mutated body have working genitals and looks perfectly fine and have no health problems. UFO probably exist, but them being hermaphrodite is pretty unlikely. But having a perfectly born hermaphrodite is ridiculous.

Bottom line,
~don't dislike or hate the manga because its half way between hentai and manga (for hentai lovers).
~don't dislike or hate the manga because there's random make no sense sci-fi ufo thrown in because there isn't really a much better way to explain things
~don't dislike or hate the manga because of the sci-fi ufo because it was there to provide comedy (the cellphone part)
~you can hate or dislike the manga because it was too ecchi
~you can hate or dislike the manga because it was lacked romance
~you can hate or dislike the manga because it was too ecchi
~you can hate or dislike the manga because of lack of 'plot' but do remember a lot of comedy manga do not have a great plot. Its bits and piece thrown together to make it funny.

Just trying to say that, sometimes people are addressing the wrong things (imo of course) by not considering other factors.

Not exactly gender bender
by Kamugin

Rating: 8.5  / 10.0
As a fan of Yui Toshiki art and the gender beder genre I couldn't possibly ignore this one. After Kirara this is the best of Toshiki's works I've ever read. The protagonist isn't exactly a gender bender he/she is a hermaphrodite. This manga tells about the discovery of sexuality and it's better lesson is pehaps that sex and love are separate things. For sure it will be indigestible for many people in these times of sexual repression and conservativeness but Yui Toshiki cares nothing about prejudice and taboos. The ending is a bit rushed but overall it is a good seinen manga for those with open minds.

My two wings

The art is considerably good. There are one or two action scenes in the series, and you can see how great the art is, although maybe they'll feel like models posing just a bit. Art's consistant, although one or two hairstyles/colors look similar.

Well, the ecchi factor in it is sorta okay. It gets a lot mature as you go along. The comedy's... there, although personally I didn't really get it or laugh. Story's strange enough, particularly the last volume, and it may have felt rushed, that last chapter, but it was still considerably well paced. You could see it build up.

And then comes the last two pages. SERIOUSLY, the last two pages came out of NOWHERE. I'm not saying the last chapter, it's the last TWO PAGES. I'm like wtf where the hell did that come from? It ended... just... what the hell? The dialogue, it's like, doesn't even make anything close to sense, it's like, huh?

It's a good read for one or two days.

It's not funny. It's really bad. You're going to hate these characters. Futanari sleeps around, blames it on her male half. A last minute romance that didn't really have any foundation. Jerks guys, and casual manipulative people abound.

wonderful conclusion, but, in the eye of the beholder

I'll start by saying that I genuinely enjoyed the series on a superficial level. It was quite funny for the first half of the series, but as things became more serious and more 'H', the comedy, and the manga as a whole, began losing its flavor.

I wholeheartedly agree with user 'decisions' in that I was very disappointed with Mako's choice in the second-to-last chapter. It was a huge letdown, and felt like a knife to the heart.

The latter part of the series is a torrent of revelations and discoveries, but you'll have to take some developments with a large amount of sugar (not salt); it can leave you bitter.

Unlike other viewers, and the reason I'm rating this strange and ero series so high, is because I really enjoyed the ending and the characters Hiromi and Makoto. There could easily have been another chapter of prologue, a la Love Hina, which I'm sure would alleviate some readers' concerns about the abruptness of the ending, but I feel like the mangaka did a great job of tying things together, even though things got quite messy towards the end.

If you're a fan of futanari and/or frivolous lulz, look no further. This series is plenty 'H', but don't expect the full monty.

It's all already been said, but I'm making a point of commenting on every series I finish.

Rushed ending. Would have been better as a straight-up hentai title. But she has a pOnOs, and a vagOOO, and it's hot.

I'm torn between rating it well for being boneriffic, and rating it poorly for failing in so many obvious, and easy-to-fix, ways. I don't regret my time spent reading it though, as it was entertaining.
