Description
The month is February, but it hasn’t snowed all winter. Kanon’s father is often away on business trips and might be getting a little too friendly with his pretty young female subordinate; which Kanon doesn’t approve of so soon after her mother’s death. Her little brother collects insects, but they’re dying off.

It turns out that these deaths are the first of many a plague to come down. First it’s the insects, inexplicably dropping dead everywhere. Then it’s the rats, looking for a new food source. And things just keep getting worse…

A bit disapointing

Well it is inevitable that „Region” will be compared to the previous mangaka’s works like “Bio Meat: Nectar”, and after reading both mangas it is obvious that “Bio Meat: Nectar” is by far superior to „Region”.
Already in “Bio Meat: Nectar” it soon became obvious which characters would be the survivors, the heroic sacrifices and the scumbag victims. The art gave that away on an instant, but either because it was the first work I read of this mangaka or really because the characters were introduced match faster it didn’t spoil the story as much. In “Region” the characters are basically introduced one by one, thus spoiling everything about them the second the character shows up.
For me the whole story and the setup seemed very far fetched. The reasons for the cataclysm are poorly described, which could be attributed to the fact that the main characters are just ordinary people. But even with the information that the reader is presented, the consequences of the catastrophe are widely and even ridiculously unreasonable. Thus I could not read through the whole story without constant face-palm.
The “Region” also felt much slower then the “Bio Meat: Nectar”, in which every chapter was a battle for survival with short stops explaining how horrible is the situation. The “Region” on the other hand spends a lot of time traveling somewhere and then dealing with the same problem in the same way it was already dealt with before.

All-in-all if you are not a fan of the mangaka, better take up some of her other works.

i had waited a long time to leach off the scans, and i am not disappointed at all! this manga is all i ever ask of a survival manga - blood, gore, some bits of science, bad ending for bad people and a good ending for all the main characters! no one getting too mushy or weepy, they survive and that is that. really, anyone that like the fun, brainless survival gore should read this!

Its practically a remake of bm nectar, I'm fine with that. Even though this is one of the type of mangas that have the characters survive by luck mostly.

Another apocalyptic scenario from FUJISAWA Yuki. Much like the work before it, BM: Nectar, the story quickly devolves into a cycle of "people build semblance of safety > tiny minority sabotage said safety efforts > everyone except the main cast and sabotaging minority die > repeat until end of story". Literally the same character throws dozens of people to their deaths through sheer malice despite several chances by the main cast to stop him to no avail.
