A lifelong dream of fame and fortune has been the driving force of Wataru Jouchi's entire life. Now, after much self-doubt, he's decided to fulfill his destiny and become a voice actor for anime videos. At first, he is thrilled to discover that his long-lost friend, Renji Kazama, is considered a top star in the industry. But Kazama does not seem at all pleased about their unexpected reunion.

From Youka Nitta, author of Embracing Love. Boku No Koe follows a young voice actor who dreams of making it big in the industry, but when he finally gets his chance he gets cold feet. Surrounded by voice acting legends, he can't help but feel insignificant. Will his seniors take him in and show him everything they know about voice acting -- and love?

Slightly Off (What is it?) But Worth Reading

I can't help but be attracted to Nitta-sensei's dramatically lined and smooth flowing art (she's got talent), but there is always something in all her works that makes me not like them too. I find the characters never really get deep into my psyche. They always seem superficial and unconnected to my reading experience.

Sound of My Voice had two couples vying for the reader's attention. The older couple's story was more appealing than the younger ones: it seemed to develop more naturally and with more tension and clearly explained motivation. Both of the couples explored the meaning of what it is to belong, be loved and feel for another. I liked the stories and the art, but something about it just felt stilted.

I love the detail Youka Nitta puts into the artwork for this series. For this alone, I would have picked up the manga.....just for the fashion, the hair, the background scenes.... BUT there's also a great storyline with really raw emotional moments.

I find this series a lot more down to earth than Haru wo Daiteita. Doesn't mean it's better plot-wise, it's just less glamorous.

i am not as big a nitta youka fan as i might be from the art alone; i think it's because her guys are all so much into fashion and their image and that's far removed from what i care about. i'm not entirely sure i am rating boku no koe fairly because hey, it's about seiyuu, and do i ever have a thing for seiyuu. but i also like that it's an ensemble cast with distinct characters who all have their own stories. and as always, the art is very pretty.
