I really love this series and its in my top ten manga/manhua/manhwa~~
It's really funny and great when your feeling down as it makes you smile right away ^^
I had tons of fun when I first read it and after many rereads the fun of reading it still remains.
I love all of the main characters, even the antiprotagonist Dictator of Life, in fact he's one of my favourite characters. I found that there seemed to be many references in 1/2 prince and most if them I got, which made me pretty happy(you know the feeling when you realise that the author knows/likes a fandom that you also like) . Although to be honest compared to the current/end parts I liked the start of it way more. It was just more about having fun and laughter, now it's too much in my opinion. Don't get me wrong i still like it and its a fantastic series but it just isn't as great as before. I really recommend this to you even if you stop before you get to the parts where it isn't as great as before, personally I find it hard to stop reading a manga/manhua I like in the middle of it though. I recommend both the novel and the manga/manhua as they are really similiar but at the same time it's different. I read the Manhua before the novel and I found that it worked out quite well as I understood some parts of the manhua better after reading the novel. So I think maybe try the manga first and then if you like it read the novel.

Yeah I agree so much with the people who said it went downhill like no tomorrow. 1/2 Prince started off funny and exciting, and it bounced characters off each other in many-people groups. For me, the part where it jumped the shark was the singing competition + love triangle, because the romance was kind of forewarned, but the wish fulfillment singing literally came out of nowhere. It turned shoujo on me, which, shoujo is fine, but it isn't what I signed up for. It isn't what the series could do well. In fact, it's what the series fails fails fails at. It ceased to be about good friends who have ridiculous fun together.

What I enjoyed about this manhua was probably the theme; online rpg. It's something most of my generation can relate to (or in other forms, such as online chat worlds etc.). It was always kinda exciting trying to guess who people were in reality.

But this taste for online worlds biases me quite a bit. And I must say, 1/2 Prince is nowhere near perfect. It's also way too boring that all the teammates oh-so-surprisingly stay in the same rather small area in reality. I also find the later turns of events a bit dragging and .hack series-ish.

But nonetheless, it entertained me well enough (atm ch56) and it's an easy read, since there is no deeper plot or unexpected plot twists. Worth reading, but don't expect anything revolutionary.

It's a series that both girls and boys can enjoy biggrin
There are lots of action, and funny scenes, and all the characters are just amazing. Actually, there's not a single character in this series that I dislike. The heroine is Xiao Lan, and she's just funny and cool. Her game counterpart (Prince) is really good-looking.
Basically, this series is very action-packed with a cast of enjoyable characters and lots of funny scenarios.
There's also a love triangle between Prince (Xiao Lan), Wicked (Ling Bin) and Gui. I find romance of the main character in this series hilarious cause she's a dude in the game, so it's basically just one hilarious love triangle between three boys. But Prince is really a girl, and she hides her identity in real life. This makes the romance in the series more interesting.
The happenings start to become insane about halfway through the series, but it's set in a game world, so it just feels kinda natural xD

Recommended. smile

I think its quiet fitting that it has Shoujo and Shounen, it is a very ambiguous, while one moment will feel like a shoujo another will feel like a shounen, takes the best from both worlds (shoujo romance, Shounen fighting) and combines it into a great story with romance, betrayal, conquest, and adventure. I actually dropped this a while back because my friend was making fun of me for reading it and the beginning chapters were a bit stale, but I picked it up again and around volume 4 or 5 i fell in love with it while it reminds me a bit of yureka, it isnt a blatant ripoff of it it does its own thing if you liked yureka you will enjoy this if you can get past the gender bender and "yaoi" character that is mostly used for comic relief

when i first started reading 1/2 prince, i loved it but recent chapters have been pretty average
for starters, i feel like more emphasis needs to be placed on the real world not just the game
and the plot is starting to get very predictable and has just lost it's touch.
who knows though, perhaps it will get better? i hope so

I've been hooked from the first chapter and would encourage anyone to give this a read, it'll be the best decision you've made all week.

I used to be obsessed with this, until I went ahead and spoiled the ending for myself. So, please take a leaf from my book and don't read any spoilers!

Anyway, it's a fun read even if there doesn't seem to be a strong plot or purpose. Prince looks super handsome when killing, but otherwise is dense and slightly idiotic. And is a girl is real life. Which brings up the whole shounen ai thing because to me, even if he is a girl in real life, Prince has a full male body in the game and Gui is in love only with "Prince". I sense fanservice here...
