i thought that since this was rated so badly, it would suck!
but when i started reading it, it just totally grabbed me.
it resembles red river SOOO much! (and also has a few of the same plots).
i haven't finished the series yet....i mean, come on....55+ volumes....but definately something i would want to continue reading.

This is a great manga! I can't understand why it hasn't been licensed. I wish that Esthetique translated the original Ouke no Monshou and not the Vietnamese version; the original so much better. Also, could someone please translate chapters 57- 65.

has anyone actually read the whole thing?? a lot says that she'll eventually end up with ryan but there's been hints that she's gonna be taken as a wife by an arabian millionaire despite having the baby of memphis..
despite ryan being the reincarnation of memphis...would it be possible that carol will end up with another guy??
really hope they'll still be together...

Seraimes, can you please tell me where to buy to full verson of this manga (daughter of nile) in English or at least the last part. Please anyone helps!!!

The plot has potential, if it can be developed by someone has skill, it would be great, but this is not the case: 5/10
The art is shoujo-ish, with full blown sparkling effects almost everywhere, hard to read sometimes, but bear-able:5,5/10 (and is that a cobra ? How bad a cobra can be draw ? )
The characters ? Totally disappoint, weak character, 40 vols (ok, i admit i can only climbed up to around 23 vols or so) and Carol has no whatsoever development, she just faithful keep the role of damsel jump right into distress and wait for her knight in golden armor(he is a king, after all) come to rescue. And that Memphis is just as lame, even worse than normal standard of tsundere guys in most shoujo mangas i can read. 1 ? I call it 0/10. Read Sengoku Strays and see how badass an ancient lord should be.
Totally, this manga is a waste of time. Pick something else to read is what i recommend. And did i mention ? The fighting scenes is suck too, i has no expectation for fightings in a shoujo manga and this clearly the only one i was prepared before reading this

The art is old style. For me there is no problem with that I can apreciate modern and old mangas art. Nothing to much to say. I think it's beautifull the hairs, the landscapes...
The story, like other comments says, it tends to be repetitive and boring if you whant to read more than 2 volumes in the same day. The strategy is good and the story it's not light like some other storical shoujos and better in my opinion then Red River but nothing too much interesting.
The characters... well... they are unrealistic. Take for exemple the love Memphis have for Carol. The good think is they aren't "that much clichées.

Read it if you like historical shoujo mangas and don't mind some silliness.

I tried reading this book after I was told that is was like Red River and Basara. The only thing that is similar is the historical settings. I didn't like the characters. The plot was too repetitive. There was no character growth. I kept reading because I thought since the characters were so bad they had to improve but that didn't happen.

Why is Carol constantly traveling by herself when she knows that she's going to be kidnapped like 5 times before she makes it to her destination and back or travel to another time. How many times must she blurt out info about the past while in the past and not expect the people to think that she's a goddess. And if they thought that she knew things about the future why do they disregard all her warnings. She cries way too much. No in the past or future cares about what Carol wants and she mostly just goes along with what others want her to do. She was just too weak a character to base 53+ vol manga on.

I feel like Memphis and all the other guys that claim they were in love with Carol were all jerks. There was very little difference between them (expect the king of Assyria). If she hadn't met him first, she probably could have ended up with any of them. He made her a slave as punishment for not liking him, broke her arm and blames her, is constantly harming her by just hugging her, threatens to kill all the servants in palace if she doesn't marry him, and the list goes on and on. He never apologizes, treats her like an object that will make the nation greater, and disregards how she feels. I don't think he really loved at all. The author doesn't really show how she falls in love with him. She just says that he's becoming cuter and all of a sudden they're madly in love.

For a manga this long, the main character needed to be mentally stronger and develop through out the story. It's a shame. The storyline had some real potential.

I want to make a correction about what KellyChen comment. 15.000 dong vietnam is NOT equal, or not even close to 15 cent USD neither 25 cent AUS. Few months ago as I search on the stock market online I saw that 15.000 dong vietnam is 1 dollar USD.

I just read this manga. Most of esthetiques manga translation was based on the vietnamese translated manga. I am soo happy that polisky decided to continue with the same vietnamese manga raws, the same that esthetiques used. I went to Vietnam and bought most of this manga think up to vol 48ish+ for like 15.000 dong which is like 25cents AUS dollars or 15cents US dollars per a volume. MY GOD PRETTY CHEAP. But then its all in viet and they kinda use some of the olden ancient vietnamese texted based sayings and words similar to ancient chinese, japanese. This is really hard to understand for newbies like me who wasnt raised in Vietnam. I hope polsky can translate all of the manga based. Ps some of esthetiques raw scans from the vietnamese version AKA NOT THE JAP version are really dirty and unclean. Ps cereja comments about estiques getting their ouke no monshou in japanese is wrong, as most of it is gotten from the viet manga. As you can see the vietnamese writing and the logo KIM DONG in each volume cover. Kim Dong is one of vietnam's giant book publishers.

Good, even though it is repetitive in a way, it's still interesting and it draws you in each time. If you are only into looks or are forcing yourself to read this then you will not like it.

Despite it being on hiatus and there are missing chapters, you have a good sense of what will/already happened. Both Anatolia and Ouke no Monshou are great in their own way. The only thing I dislike about Anatolia sometimes is the smut. Ouke no Monshou is ridiculous, but that's what makes it fun to read.
