Sakura Aki is a penniless high schooler who likes to cook and does other "unmanly" things. His grandfather and father are disciplinary on gender roles and beat up Aki everytime he does a thing that women would usually do, like cleaning. When his father leaves him absolutely broke, and with his grandfather realizing Aki's "unmanly" flaws, he sends him to live at one of the dorms at an all girls' school that he runs, a school where distinguished young ladies of the country attend, the Hanayashiki - Flower Estate-, to teach him a lesson.

The ending was so unsatisfactory. Everything built up, started to move towards a resolution but then it backed-stepped and ended.
Spoilers ahead:
The twins' problems weren't solved at all. They started to open up to Aki, but then Kakitsubata basically told Ayame to bury her feelings and fake being happy. That is not healthy or helpful at all! AND THEN IT ENDED. What!? Also, the thing about Aki's mother not being dead was left unresolved. Like, this manga could be so much longer and go much deeper about depression, abuse and recovery. It was great until the last few chapters and the ending was just so blah that I can only give this series a 7 rather than a 9.

This manga is more character driven than story driven.
Each character has some unique perspectives.
Aki is dealing with feelings of betrayal from his father.
Ayame has a complicated relationship with her twin brother who both have trauma from abuse in their past.
Despite this, the school dormitory setting and the rest of the cast are so lively that the series does not get bogged down by its darker elements but rather uses both sides to keep the story flowing.
The ending is very open which is the only complaint I have against the series.

goddammit it strted good
and in the end... it felt like the last 2 chapters were very rushed... this was most likely forced to end prematurely cuz the ending was freakin, weird, incomplete, vague, and EXTREMELY unresolved

I never expected this manga to catch my attention so much that I would read every chapter in one go.
I think that the plot overall if good, filled with too much angst for my normal preference, but it was a nice read. I never expected the manga to turn out so angsty, I though at first that it would be a light hearted manga about a guy with feminine skills, that falls in love with the first girl he was introduced to...boy was I wrong...
The art is nice too. In fact I have no complains about this manga since it has a good-clean art and the plot a bit angsty, but interesting. =D

When I first came across this, I thought the author is going to write another light series (like her previous work Bolt&Lantern). Then when it got to volume 2, the plot thickens, having darker tones, just the way I like it. The story finished with one wondering where their lives are headed to, somewhat like a cliffhanger, but an intentional one at that. (Hmm, reminds me of Kizuki Akira's stories...)
Entertaining

Funny, well paced and well drawn. The eccentric girls and grandfather have great potential. The main male character seems to have skills but looks like he may turn out to be another wimpy character. If he turns out to be so, I'll likely bring my rating down a notch or two. If he lets out his inner hentai though, I'll bump this up to a ten. If the hentai is strong within him, I'll give this an eleven. XP
