Completed the whole series including this & the Near future series.
Vampire Maria, as in many other Japanese Vampire, is the legendary woman Bikuni who has eternal life. But many works modified the legend a bit, and so did this manga.
She met a high school teen who she decided to train and let him to protect her as she feels a threat of her life is coming.
The story was unexpectedly attractive. It's a bit crazy and the style is similar to author's preview work Kyoushirou 2010. But this time it's heavily themed with irony against extreme religion and the extreme thoughts of right vs wrong. It argued that no human is perfectly right, the effort to eliminate sin completely is dangerous. In the first part, it described the fear in people, why fanaticism will help to save the future Japan. In the second part, it illustrated what a world of fanatics would be. Maria was treated as the goddess by some people but at the same time being pursuit as an studying object for eternal life. and her adventure begins as she met the young man...
Of course, the manga is still filled with some low & dirty jokes. That's the author's favorite style.
Art is good as usual. Much improved from Tarzan. There are a lot of H-scenes, some are redundant and some are not. Not feeling particularly ecchi with them anyway.
Overall, it's quite entertaining. I try not to get too serious with the possible flaws in the SF settings and the theory the author writing against. In fact, I believe both sides have some correct concepts and I decided to follow the author's view (Maria's view) to enjoy it better since it's already biased in the beginning.
No war, no conflict, freedom, everything in harmony and no need for fanaticism. But I will have to admit that sometimes people want more regulations.
