Sure - it IS a typical shoujo with many of the shoujo elements, but, it has many heartwarming and cute moments that you just can't resist.
The plot thickens in the later volumes, giving it a special flare, and keeps you going. Another plus is that its a really well drawn manga! The art is pretty to look at, especially the guys! *.* <33
Also, another good reason why I'm waiting for the scanlation and wanting to know more is because (unlike some shoujos) it has a decent and substantial ending.
I recommend this if you have some spare time or wanting a new manga to read 8D
--currently up to volume 5; chapter 18

the story line picks up more in the later volumes- sure it's your typical shoujo, but it brings a nice flavor to it X3 and one can never have too much of good shoujo.

I really like this series, Sawa is an adorable heroine who at least cares about characters other than Ran, her hellishly cute love interest (as does the mangaka, I think the side plot involving Akira and Tsubaki is cute as all hell and they're such interesting characters too). I like it when the boys' and girls' friendships are given a bit of page space, too (though the love relationships aren't bad either, I really like Ran and what he does when Kido comes calling while Sawa's visiting him- can we say- C-H-E-M-I-S-T-R-Y?).
It's nothing revolutionary, but it's prettily drawn (LOTS of bishies!) and a good enough way to while away a few hours, since it's even funny in places. Nice manga...

Rockin’ Heaven is in fact a typical shoujo story, but only to a certain extent. I’d say it’s higher quality than your average "typical shoujo story" firstly because of the art and secondly because the author actually takes a shot at semi-realism and succeeded. Despite using a cliché “only girl in a previously all boys’ school” plot, something about the execution of this series made it seem less ridiculous than most shoujo manga. A little more down-to-earth. But still really cute. Sawa is adorable and while she is somewhat cliché in personality, she is still strong and kind. Ran on the other hand is only okay for me, but his personality didn’t make as much sense to me so I didn’t care too much. The other characters are interesting enough and not grossly underdeveloped like most supporting casts, so a plus for that as well. Furthermore, the situations in the story are generally realistic and easy to follow (aka doesn’t make you wanna facepalm). Some parts had really amazingly created moments and I was really impressed, especially the first confession scene (the art paneling was gorgeous). Overall, I quite enjoyed this one and I think it’s because of the author’s writing style. Rockin’ Heaven is short, sweet and a little cheesy like most shoujo series, yet it won’t make you cringe or get cavities. I’d definitely recommend this to any shoujo lover, or even someone who doesn’t like this genre. Rockin’ Heaven isn’t overly dramatic but is still interesting, therefore making it easier to swallow than others of its kind.
Oh, and the ending doesn't suck.

i realy like the art and the plot is really cute
although it's really typical the characters really draw me in with their backgrounds and their relationships with each other
i can't wait to see how it turns out
i hope it won't turn out to be a dissapointment though

It has the depth and the loving relationship that most younger kids would appreciate and connect with. Being an adult it just didn't have the depth I needed. Artistry would be have been better defined a bit more.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
starts with just a couple of girls stuck in an all boys class. Quick bullying. Quick fix. Has a reverse harem plot going on. Girl and bully fall in love.. Then split. Then love then split. There is the normal love triangle here and there for the two. Then daddy problems. Then they finally get back together and stay together. Wish Ogawa would be with the younger sister in the end. (Though they mention something like that.. It ended stupidly).

There is nothing new here in this series, despite all the good reviews. While it is true that the author made this a bit more realistic than many other shoujo series, the teenage angst and shallow love rivals are still ever present. I guess this is just not for my age group anymore.

It's not just the art but the story and the characters. The characters are all individually unique and think differently like the main character thinks like how a normal teen would think, the plot is so cute and sweet it's a manga that you simply cannot put down. so cute~~~
yes! i agree about reminiscence of kodocha..

as much as i like the art, i find the main guy, ran, as well drawn he is, to be really inconsistent. one minute, he's sticking his tounge out like Akito Hayama and the next he's smartly threatening Sawa somewhat like Kyouya Ootori...and his past just confused me :-S but I like the other characters so it's good over all.
good flightly shoujo manga

this is a good shoujo manga to read when you need to get your mind away from reality. . . very cute artwork, good, honest characters, a rather clueless but strong-willed heroine. . . good read.
