It's a well-written series. Though I'm not the most fond of the art direction chosen for the tone that it tries to convey.
Just give me a very uncomfortable brain tingle... Probably due to cognitive dissonance caused by the mismatching of tone and style.
I probably would have enjoyed this more if it used a different pannelling style than 4koma, it kinda doesn't convey the seriousness and impact the best. A kids novel length of 400 pages could have worked too. Reading this gave me the same vibes as the Snow Queen, which is a children story that starts with a comfy vibe but had scenes and developments with a twisted tone and gore scenes.
As per usual, I rate per enjoyment over technicalities. Certain scenes certainly made me feel frustrated and angry. (I think that it's intended by the author ---well it does detract from the "enjoyment" factor)
The art was really adorable, plot was interesting and well developed, each character had realistic motives. As for me, this series is one of those that when the end finally is in reach, I look fondly at those completed chapters and characters I had a chance to meet. Must read for fans of hooky
This is insane. After reading Zebra, I went on to see what else the author wrote and I was kind of disappointed to see something that looked like comedy. I read it anyway because Zebra was funny and it looked cute, but now I'm surprised by how great it is. I wasn't wrong about this author having potential, this is honestly the best thing I've read in a while. The story is good, the characters are well constructed and the story is slowly being developed. Plus, the author gets more chances to show his love for history here and he seems to be especially fond of nazis with the whole theme of "I was ordered to do it" (there's a reference to that too in Zebra).
The plot's good, the characters are good, the art's good, I'm really into this. I never read 4-koma type stuff because I don't think it has plot and the humor isn't good, but this is really awesome.
I thought this was just going to be some cutsey crap, but this has an interesting plot, developed characters, and it reads like a regular manga or manhwa, just with less fluff filler.
I highly recommend giving it a read!
