From Tokyopop:
In this collection of cute shojo stories, Ryu-Sang is a tough boy who gets in fights and--although he doesn't want to admit it--cares for the girl he's supposed to protect.

Story 3: Myo-Un, an orphan girl with no memories of her past. Tells the story on how she came to understand the bad mannered boy Ryu-Sang to which became her first friend in the temple.
Story 4: Ryu-Sang, a mean and blunt orphan boy. Although he hates and treats Myo-un badly, he protects her!?
Story 5: Aru is a child who just lost her father, the story on her journey to the temple while being accompanied by big brother Ryu-Sang and older sister Myo-Un.

Note: Myo-Un and Ryu-Sang are both the protagonist in the series Nabi, one of the authorís ongoing series at the moment.

I felt that I didn't waste my time when reading this. The art was decent, the chars a little flat and the plot a little dull. But it was still worth reading.

I really love Yeon-Joo Kim's artwork the most. Her short stories in the beginning were a little to short for me but they were still really nice. Theres a gentle sadness without the manwha that has a hopeful theme too. But Nabi the prototype is a one shot manga and the last 3 stories within the manwha are a prelude to her other series Nabi.

I read the first volume of Nabi before realizing there was Nabi: The Prototype. Realizing it gave some backstory to the events in Nabi I decided to read it before continuing on with the main story. After reading I found that Nabi: The Prototype, helped develop the main characters of Nabi and reading this before reading Nabi is a good idea, if only to get a better grasp at the two mains history together.

Plot- The first two one shots are very unrelated to the last four, which are connected by the same characters. All plots are different and explore characters then there being any actual plot within them. These stories are meant to be red along with Nabi. I must admit at times I was a bit confused, and only because I read Nabi did I understand some of the characters. Read Nabi. Thatís all I can say, though the stories are sweet alone, to really understand them one must read Nabi, thatís where the plot lies. Read Nabi!

Characters- The characterís in the stories are characters in Nabi, these stories are meant to develop characters and to give histories for them. This was very well accomplished, but I donít think I would have liked it if not for reading the first volume of Nabi. Read this first, get a grasp on the characterís and their history, then read Nabi for more fleshing out of those characters.

Art- Beautiful as always, nicely detailed. The art has a serene feel that goes along nicely with the story. All in all, itís quite gorgeous.

Other- I know I seem repetitive in saying this, but itís important! If you read Nabi: The Prototype, read Nabi! It will clear up confusion left by the one shots. They were write primarily to help readers better understand the characters and to get some quick glimpses into their pasts to more fully enjoy Nabi. Again I say: Read Nabi!

8/10- Was good

These short stories were enjoyable. I suppose the mood of the story and all of its character appeals to my nature so by the time I finished the 6 chapters. I furiously devoured the main story. If I had to explain the mood of the story I would describe it as flat, dark, empty however there is a glimpse of light that whispers depth. I suppose the main story has the same feeling as well.

When I bought this book, way back when I remember reading this as a PREVIEW FOR THE SERIES she was planning. The actual series Nabi hadn't come out yet. But it got me excited for the story she was creating. So I don't believe this was meant to be a complete story or a series of oneshots. I'm glad the series was made and not a "this was a nice story idea I came up with" kind of thing. And I'm interested in reading it.

i dont understand what is going on. Who are the main characters? is this a series of oneshots? are they the same characters throughout?

all the characters look the same to me. i dont even remember the names. all i know is that
Spoiler (highlight to view)
some girl gets cut with glass and she may or may not like some guy who acts like he doesnt like her..? and then they are in a ship and something weird happens? and then she sacrifices herself for him because a heavy thing fell and she goes unconscious?...

i cant tell. i really cant. its the same with all this mangaka's works. the only diffrence between the characters are their hair. and its highly confusing.
