Description
Every day in Japan, 2500 people die due to any number of causes. Do you think you'll be one of the ones to die? No, of course not. Do you think you'll win the lottery? You'd like to think so, we all would. But Sumida is different. He wants the status quo to remain in every way; live a normal life, get a normal job, have normal kids, never to be anyone fortunate or unfortunate, content in normalcy. Anyone who doesn't agree is foolish, doomed to live their life scraping up a mountain that they can never conquer, fated to die in despair wishing things had been better.

I just read this manga up to where it was translated and I have to say that it's definitely not your average manga.
The protagonist has such a strange way of looking at things to go along with his hardships and problems. All the characters have their own pros and cons, which make them likeable or meaningless.
It's a great manga from what I've read, I just hope there is some new chapters translated soon.

This really was a great change of pace from the more main-stream genres. I really, really enjoyed the first volume. I hope more is translated soon. I keep checking back, to no avail.
I get the feeling it only gets better as it progresses too.

This manga demonstrates something I myself have experienced -- how a fixed idea about how major problems MUST be handled can unnecessarily make life awful. This may be an affliction that especially attacks young people. Here the mangaka does a startlingly good job of developing and elaborating upon the young man's odd ideas. He is from a dirt poor family and doesn't know how the world works and has no-one to guide him to any understanding of it, so he makes terrible mistakes. And the worst thing is, he makes his mistakes out of good moral instincts. He is handsome, and there's a girl who we can see really wants to get with him, but his obsession prevents that.
I consider this manga to be literature, not just entertaining, though it is also entertaining in the sense of very absorbing, as one tracks the working out of the main character's fate, hoping for the best.
The art is great--realistic most of the time, expressionistic when it needs to be.

Couldn't recommend this manga highly enough. Artwork is unique and adds to the gritty surrealism of the manga. Protagonist is interesting and cool.
Would recommend it 7.5/10

i think the plot is really deep.At the beginning i thought that the protagonist was hoping to be normal because he is lazy and doesn't like trouble but when u see how he deals with the problems the live gives him its really admirable what a big resolve he has.I was ready to pass by this 1 to be honest because of the art BUT i think the it gives more dramatic and realism to the story (I don't think it would've worked with the style that everyone is beautiful and shiny no that i have something against it but i think this style is better for serious manga's)
I give 10 and recommend that u try it out as well as other Furuya Minoru projects.

The manga demonstrated how an obsession can ruin your life and the dangers of "self-awareness", throughout the story MC was so obsessed with an idea that HE ignored the good things he has in life, loyal friends and a girl who loved him.
And we have to give credit to how the man take helped to extrapolate the young man's obsessive idea and his obsession till the fateful end.

i think this manga capture perfectly the mentality of the severely depressed. when you lose all hope for the future, and you have nowhere you think you can run to, you scrabble around in the darkness like a chicken with no head. the ending is perfect i think, as it build up everything we hope and fear for the protagonist.
the art is gearing towards the realistic, though sometimes the expressions can be highly unrealistic in the way it really exaggerate the lines of the face. im not complaining, it make the manga have comedic undertone for such a serious manga handling a heavy subject.
i hope you will receive this manga with open mind.

Not many things happened throughout. Surprisingly i only realised he suffered from a mental health at the end. I didnt know what to make of the creature up till the end.

Really quite good. The plot is pretty deep and rather interesting. My only problem is the noses/mouths of the people; they do convey expressions rather well, but seem unnatural.
