Sensei's works almost all deals with slow development and the usual stuffs that's going on around and this manga is no exception. It's this slow progression that I came to like this mangaka, btw. She would manage to capture the daily stuffs and turn them into something charming to read.
"Ketchup Mayonnaise" overall is a nice story. It's family oriented and deals with a ghost.
"The Spring of Water" is nice and this is my fav of the 3 stories as I am a sucker for romance and school life altogether. It's interesting that this deals with mixed up in compatibility relationship in not-so-dramatic style. And, that is what I like about sensei's storytelling, though part of me also wished for a longer and explored closure than what was presented.
"Chocolate Ice Cream" is also interesting but I was wishing for more. There seems to be lacking that made me think that it can be better.
Overall this is good to read leisurely and if one have much free time. Don't try to squeeze it in your busy schedule and especially, if you're looking for any grand endings. For the art published in 1998, this is pretty decent. It doesn't look that old or that feels weird like many old manga out there.

I also really liked the first story, ketchup mayonnaise. It was interesting in that it didn't feature romance, but rather, had an interesting take on the supernatural. I also thought the second story, spring water, had potential, but it fell short because it didn't reach the level of emotional depth for me. Sure, it was supposed to be dramatic, but I didn't feel her sorrow. It seemed so significant...
Chocolate Ice Cream had a great beginning, but it didn't end the way I thought it would...and as always, I keep feeling like ikuemi ryo keeps missing the mark for me on terms of giving it pathos. I'm not saying that the characters don't express emotion, but I just don't feel that emotion...
I guess that's the slice-of-life aspect. Things happen and you move on, not necessarily in the most dramatic fashion. All in all, something interesting to think about in passing...

This volume only holds three one-shots, which is likely because they're a bit longer and more in-depth than the usual one-shots you see. I'd also hesitate to call these "romance" stories. They're more fitting of the "drama" genre title than the romance one. The art's a bit rough in spots, though it seems like it's just a different style than I'm used to, rather than any kind of actual problem.
"Ketchup Mayonnaise" is my favorite of the three stories. It's humorous and touching, with an unusual premise that concludes in a satisfying way.
"The Spring of Water" is my least favorite of these stories. I didn't really find myself too interested in what was going on and the plot just seemed a bit... lackluster.
"Chocolate Ice Cream" was interesting, but seemed like it fell short a bit. It kept my interest until somewhere near the end. It was more fun wondering what was going on than it was finding out what actually WAS going on! I think that's why it felt disappointing at the end. There were so many ways this one-shot could've gone... I just felt like it ended up in the least interesting way out of those.
Overall, it's a good volume with worthwhile one-shots.
