Same old stuff

There's really not much to comment about this manga. Its characters are almost all too over-the-top for the normal standards (though not necessarily in a good way) while there's still a lot lacking to make a more fulfilling and enjoyable story altogether. This is at most the usual stuff related to vampires but with a bit more spice to it (though not particularly the type of spice that I like). The developments didn't do too much to help as well. Haizz, at least there was nothing that bugged me excessively throughout the manga.

I love the cover picture for Blood Honey, but it is a bit misleading. I'm not going to hold it against this manga that Akabane really isn't a vampire, doesn't actually have cute little fangs, is just some guy who is a descendant of vampires, doesn't have any vampire powers/weaknesses and is mortal. Having said all that, he does begin to seem like a perfectly normal human who has a weird urge to drink human blood. If you can get past that and enjoy manga were it's obvious that all the pretty boys get paired off with other boys, Blood Honey might be for you. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is expecting serious undead vampire stuff going on.

This is totally my type of manga.. cute, funny and plot well done. The art is cleanly done with beautiful characters. The story not too deep & easy to follow. I don't know why it only got an average score of 7.4.. Loved it.
I recommend it to anyone.

Couple 1: I guess you can say it's...unique? The seme seems like an awkward puppy until you found out if he doesn't regularly get his blood drawn, his real personality shows, which is moody. Uke is a twink who finds out he loves the taste of seme's blood so feeds him blood-repleneshing foods so he can draw from him a lot. Honestly the relationship moved too fast for me, we were only shown a brief montage of uke making seme food multiple times. The uke is not my type. The translation is clunky.
Couple 2: Uke's spoiled nephew cockblocks his relationship so seme sends him off to his priest friend who works him to the bone until he's ready to run away. I don't know if this really worked for me, the uke only stayed with the priest because he had nowhere else to go after finding his friends talking about him behind his back. There was no attraction, with the seme only saying that he liked useless people.
Couple 3: Seme from couple 1 and 2, I was surprised! Mayuzumi was so peppy omg.

I don't think this is as good as everybody's saying, nor as bad. It's in between, and corresponds precisely to that 7.4 average score.
Yes, the art is beautiful and the characters are to die for, but that's not nearly enough to get someone interested in a title, right?
The story is indeed super cute and funny at parts. But it's not deep, it's not really original and it really doesn't matter that they are vampires. I mean, from the cover you can already get the feeling - so don't expect too much sexy blood sucking and angsty conflicts about the vampire existence. What I think is important, though, and therefore why I'm not giving it a low score, is that I was interested enough to want to finish it, and I enjoyed the reading.
The characters are not the most complex you'll find out there, but they're quite likable, so it's okay. Kurosu is my favorite, he is totally adorable!
I don't think Yuki's bet is sick or wrong or whatever. He was just insecure, and that's also pretty common in yaoi. I don't know why people get so shocked when facing rape in yaoi or that kind of sexual bet. I mean, they ARE males, and we're seeing from a female point of view - guys do stupid sexual stuff as carelessly as bets. Even worse, they are vampires, so they are probably even more used to that kind of thing. It turned out to be pretty sweet because of the bet anyways, so just chill.
What did bother me was that I liked Mayu-Mayu and Yamada's past together much more than the actual couples or the character's adult versions...they are so cute together and perfect for each other! =/
Anyways, I recommend this if you're just looking for fun and not a remarkable title.

I rather enjoyed this story, although, if you are looking for hot vampire yaoi action, this is sadly not the place to find it. It certainly was lacking in scenes of the aforementioned type - the main reason I didn't score the manga a 10. Aside from that little disappointment, I LOVED the art! It's beautiful and I definitely enjoyed the mangaka's drawing style and the humor used throughout the story. The characters were really fun and interesting, too, although I would have liked the manga to have focused on Akabane and Mayuzumi's story a little bit more (chapters 3 & 4 focus on other characters), but I did enjoy the other stories anyways.

Visually the art for this one is very well done. However to say the story is lacking is an understatement. If Akabane really is a decedent of vampire and has some biological need to drink human blood, why should it matter to him if his human "lover" really does love him or is just giving him blood due to being donor enthusiast? The whole nephew subplot is just ridiculous.

not my type of manga. Akabane actually makes a bet with his nephew to see if his nephew can seduce his lover, just to prove he cares for him. this guy is so sick and disgusting, who in the world would allow their nephew to grope and kiss their lover. he didnt even feel jealous its obvious he doesnt love his lover. it made me sick to read this manga... this manga would have been perfect if his plan had failed and Osamu had actually slept with the nephew, its exactly what he deserves... i cant believe they stay together...
