Not much there

A friend of a womanizer falls in love with him, and the womanizer discovers he feels possessive towards his friend, so it must be love. There, you've read the manga. Seriously, that's the whole manga.

The typical "you're abusing me, and that makes me feel like you love me" which I never understood, not then and not now. It's typical for the power balance to be off in this genre, so I'm not complaining, but cliches alone can't carry a plot, and there is little else in the manga beyond that.

…What happened?

While on one level to do find this sweet (especially since there is nothing crazy, nonconsensual, or just WEW happens) I also find this work shallow. Stuff, a lot of it, just happens and there’s absolutely no explanation for it. For example, where does all of Ray’s love for Shingo spring from? Okay, I admit that Ray says, “I don’t know myself … but if it’s you”, which gives him the license to get away (not really tho) but then there’s absolutely no character development from Shingo’s side.
Though, there are certain situations are explained, such as Ray going out of his way to befriend and keep close to Shingo, which help give the story its coherence.

I am not a fan of this weird proportions art styles, but with such high rating i thought I'd read it anyway but I have no idea why this such high ratings. It's an average, boring manga that is too fast paced and I'm even including the weird one shot that made no sense in my ratings.

A copy of kuroneko?

Can't help but compare this to the kuroneko series because the uke's name is the same, story line is somewhat alike, and the seme is both mixed and works as a model. There are too many similarities that I feel like kuroneko series is just a better version of this. Nevertheless, I think this series isn't half bad as what others say it is. It's a fun read smile

The story is good particularly the one shot, it was deep and somehow made my heart squeeze. The art is also good, but the romance, i'm not satisfied i want more chapters about it.

Likeable & includes a nice oneshot.

Unfortunately I missed to read this one first and then Lotus Eater (which is related to this, yet not exactly a sequel), so if you haven't started this then doing so will be a good idea. Anyways, this piece of work was likeable, too. And - As usual, the drawing style of Tenzen was catchy and especially the sharp eyes, got me hooked on it again.

Yes, it is not as strong as other works by the author, but I came to liked the relationship between the rather innocent Shingo and the womanizer Ray. Although the conclusion seemed rushed, but this might be because of the limited space the story had for development. I liked the insecurities Shingo has and later the changes of the viewpoint, which helped to understand the counterpart and his behaviour better.

The onshot was really nice and interesting, because it deals with the painful side relationships can have, if they are build from love triangles or if other peoples feelings are involved. The twist in the storyline, when the names come together and everything becomes clear between the characters, caught me by surprise - and had impact. So, let alone this oneshot, I won't regret reading this Manga.

I personally didn't mind at all that Shingo went off to find someone else, even after Ray had (kinda) confessed. After all from his point of view it did seem more like childish possessiveness or even just plain lust than the truth at that time. And it's not like he just threw himself at any guy for the sake of having sex, it was just because he wanted to put an end to his unrequited love and all the pain he'd been suffering from for so long, which I think is fair enough really. But even then he was hesitant, he only went off with the guy because Rihito assured him it was okay. Besides it provided the push that Ray needed so it all worked out for the best.
Also another thing I don't agree with is a lot of people's opinions of Rihito. I don't think what he did was bad at all. Yes doing that sort of thing to your sleeping friend isn't exactly good, but he didn't go as far as a lot of BL characters would've done. And thanks to him we got to see Ray go all threatening too XD
The art was also amazing and the sex scene was hot (Tenzen-sensei always delivers such pretty art) and even though there was no real angst or heavy drama, it was enough to keep me entertained. Definitely looking forward to reading Lotus Eater because for me Rihito was the most interesting character, so I can't wait to read his story.
Anyways, I still think overall it was a good read. Yeah there are lots of cliches but come on, that's hardly something new is it. These things wouldn't be overly used if they weren't what the majority of fans want. I admit I do prefer reading something original and fresh but there's nothing wrong with the usual plot-lines if it's done well. And this is done well.

The random oneshot called Guilt was really good too. It's message about how there are times when you're going to wind up hurting somebody no matter what you do was quite powerful. Very bittersweet ending when you think of the senpai (can't remember his name but felt so sorry for him)

Too Short or Too Fast?

Well... i feel lack of something! My favorite character in this manga is the Seme, Ray. He is a interesting character in this manga, love to tease his lover, and kind of Possessive. But maybe the problem is with the Uke, Shingo. I didn't say Shingo is bad character or annoying, but his character is felt not 'real'. Especially in the sex scene, I didn't particularly like his act on there. He said that is his first, but he seemed to act like someone who has been experienced. It was very weird!
But i'm glad i already read Lotus Eater before i read this manga. If not, i must be think Rihito aka Ri-chan, Shingo's friend, is kinda weird, annoying maybe? or reckless? Well... never judge book from the cover, right?! biggrin
Hmm... I think think manga is good, well... not as good as Lotus Eater i think. But it's enough! Pretty sweet~♥ Maybe just too fast or too short. hehe... Nice manga!

I liked the story, but i thought it was lacking character development. After reading it, i have no clue as to how old they are or even what they are studying in school!
Also sensei has a habit of introducing a side character to bring some conflict into the story, but it's never followed through....

not the best

there wasn't enough development here for me to buy that ray really did already have feelings for shingo, albeit unrealised ones. it also didn't make sufficient sense that, after "saving" himself all this time, shingo would go and have sex with a stranger shortly after ray actually wanted to sleep with him. i can understand why shingo ran away from ray then; it would definitely hurt more to sleep with somebody for whom you have apparently unrequited feelings than to sleep with a stranger -- but shingo isn't one to sleep around, so why would he start then? it doesn't seem in character at all. as an aside, shingo is too much of a crybaby for me to like him much.

{unfortunately} i also read lotus eater first (rihito's story), and that's excellent, so this one feels fairly cliched in its overblown reactions, and doesn't do much for me.

the konno / hirose / shuu oneshot was more satisfying even though it was much shorter. that one rang true for all characters as well. *ouch*; it really hit me when shuu found out hirose's real last name and what that meant.
