The title of this review says all I found in this manga. The 2 main characters are incapable of being committed to each other in any meaningful way, or abstaining from promiscuous sex long enough to even notice their more romantic feelings for each other. I'm too old to like or root for such fools in any meaningful way. On the other hand, I bet some young adult readers will have the opposite reaction--and for them this will approximate a realistic portrayal of one route that life in one's 20s can take. Teens and below, most of whom are at least a bit idealistic, I think should avoid this story because it is likely to just depress them.

Worst of all, IMHO, in this manga the main male character, Suekchi, is portrayed as a timid soul who can be easily oppressed and taken advantage of by anyone, especially his "girlfriend". It's a drag trying to identify with him!

First the art: It's from the 90's so it's different from the style which is now modern. But it's really OK, I could read the facial expressions and the bodies weren't drawn wrong/unproportional, well most of the time *g*. The background is drawn good and generous enough to have a good feeling of the location in witch the action are taking place. But except for the facial expressions of the characters the art isn't really breath-taking or captivating. But the art is miles away from being bad either. It's a pity that now-days most of the mangaka don't draw real facial expressions.

The story: The most mangas, witch are drawn in the 2010's, are drawn for a special target audience. I don't have the feeling that this manga was drawn with a special target audience in mind. So to put it in a genre like Seinen is somewhat arbitrary. And if this manga has to be in a genre it should be Josei. But Josei is targeted for grownup women and the main protagonist is a man. On the other hand the main female character, who drives the story forward, is a really modern women.
It's difficult for me to identify myself with the main protagonist, he is a looser in the end. He can't embrace what he get. I don't mean that he isn't greedy, this is actually good, but I mean the personal stuff like the girlfriend or the like. He want everything to be like it "should", in terms of the ossified, Japanese society of the 90's. In the end he is a boring man, only the people around him make his life a rollercoaster and interesting. And he likes to run away or chicken out if he is left alone and has to do something important for himself. Also he has has few till non character development, witch is OK if it was planned by the author for the character. Not everybody change after time, but most do. The other characters are very cool, lively and i can imagine that i could meet some of them, or all of them, in real life. Most of the time all "decisions" made by the characters in the manga are made because the character would probably do this so in the specific situation. Only sometimes let the mangaka the characters make something little(!) strange. The story it self is also not very far-fetched, not much at least. And the rollercoaster is funny to read. And because the story has the feeling of a real-life story and not a typical, whimsical Shoujo, it's sometimes little bit difficult (for me) to excuse and live with the looser in the main protagonist. But the other characters in the manga makes up for this "weakness" by hundredfold.
The end is weak, but OK. I could live with it but I was not enthusiastic about it at all.

Conclusion: Good read. Take your time and enjoy the story. But be warned, some of the characters seems to be little bit to "lively" and it is only about human (especially male-female) relationships, so you will find no evil organization or crime in this manga.

Not much to say about it. Started out great, was an extremely interesting plot and I had lots of fun.

The ending might be a little weird for some people, but I personally had no problems with it.

Suekichi just leaving everything and going back to his hometown was the only BS in the ending. Simply, Bullshit! That was my problem with the ending.

Where's this issue about 'Aya choosing the Old man over Suekichi' even popping up from? Anyone who has read this carefully can see that it's not like that. Aya firmly believes that only Love will not be enough in RL and so, in order to live a good life with Suekichi, she decides to marry the old guy. She believes that she can convince Suekichi afterwards that she is correct. She only did it out of love for him and look where they are now. She wasn't wrong at all. Suekichi and Aya are back together, they'll have a peaceful life and they even have a kid! This is what can be called a 'Happy Ending'.

Aya is a horrible, horrible person.

im not one for realistic mangas but out of whim i picked this one up, and i have one thing say and it is wow. Everything seemed real, i felt like i was stalking someone (creepy i know). The one thing that was off was the ending, i didn't seem to fit in the story, even though the author was hinting on it for a while.

I love the characters, especially Freddy. The author depicts the relationship of Aya and Suekichi with many events and complication but one thing similar: they both like sex. Their relationship began with sex and ended with sex.

I think it has a nice story. all these things about inheritance reminds me of soap operas here in our country, haha. I'm enjoying the story. But I think the nice plot is the only thing that keeps me stick on reading this manga... I really hate the main character here. he's so wishy washy, it irritates me, he just wants to have sex! ! The only character i like here is Freddy, although he's weird... And another thing, where's the romance part here? I'm currently reading in the middle of vol.5 and I can't find a single romantic scene... I'll just read this till the end and then i'll update my comment...

this was a good read but in the beginning i didnt like the art, but it seemed to get much better =) also the ending was kinda weird... oh well great read

The manga intrigued me and i thought i would give it a try. the first 3 volumes were decent but the story gets rather frustrating. The ending was kinda too way out there for me and unsatisfying since i thought it was poorly constructed. almost seems like the author hurried the ending, and at the same time, was really wishy washy in what he wanted to do. be warned the characters can get really irritating as well.

If you think romantic comedies in manga are all about pantyshots, situational humor, harems and all that other bull; think again. This is an exemplary series that proves you can actually tackle the genre with some intellect and respect for the reader's mind.
Top notch stuff; and even though it's not as mind-blowing as Arigatou or Believers, Naoki Yamamoto has once again proven his great writing talent.
