Ok, it's one thing to say Japanese girls have tits at all (which is untrue), but a female Japanese 5th grader? BULLCRAP! What alternate, bizarro universe is this? Unless she's a transfer student from the western hemisphere, then that's a load of crap.

For light horror reading, this is a great series. Grade school ghost/monster stories with plenty of gags and Aesop fable endings. That said, it is NOT for the lighthearted.

This story does NOT shy away from killing people (including children) or giving them would-be-fatal blows. (One kid has her neck punctured with a MULTIPLE giant needles and HUNG UPSIDE DOWN, but a trip to the hospital fixes it and shes back getting into antics the next chapter.)

Unfortunately, this also creates a real disconnection between the extremely high degree of danger the children end up in and the words of warning the teacher, and manga gives. The story even lampshades the fact the children around him have become increasingly naive and reckless because their teacher keeps rescuing them... just pages before the teacher rescues them by giving them instructions over the phone.

Amazing series

Possibly one of the best semi-gag series ever. Theres enough short gag stories in it, yet enough non-gag story line/character development to help escape it from the "gag" genre department. It also makes a number of cultural references in the 90s (like jump characters, urban legends, etc) so its awesome (great if you're really into anthropology type stuff). I love the story, and i grew up reading/watching teh series so i loved it.

However for those who watched it in anime form, please keep in mind they retconned a lot of stuff, including the manga ending if i rmbr correctly.

A nice manga with a good mix of horror, comedy and fanservice

Seriously, the stories are usually short, but they truly are a fun read.
Too bad the scanlation project was dropped after a mere 3 chapters.

BTW, the anime sort of covers the first ten volumes of the manga, though some later volume elements were included as well, and many of the chapters of the manga were skipped/retconned.
