Solid Historical Manga

Over-all, this manga was almost exactly what I was looking for after reading one too many shounen action series. It's realistic, calm, mature, smart, and cool. I haven't done the research to know how much of this series is true but, no one alive today can claim that they knew everything about that time period, that's why I'm willing to give the author some leeway in order to make an engaging story. Speaking of story, I have to say that story is the one thing that the author might be lacking in after 71 chapters. Most series would have an overarching story in gear now but Historie seems content to follow the adventures of Eumenes and Alexander for now. We'll see how these events tie into the future.

The story is very good, it gives a nice feel. You feel like what is portrayed here is really history (though keep in mind that it is not, the author takes liberties with history, though it is for the best. Still follows it on the major points). The characters are believable, well portrayed, and you can't help but get engulfed in this manga. If you wanna strat reading it, free a lot of time because in all likelihood you won't be able to get up from your seat.
Anyway it is still at its beginning, there obviously will be at least 200 more chapters or so if it is not discontinued, so be prepared for a long, but very enjoyable ride

Ok, like cesare, i put this off for years just beecause it says seinen.
Now i regret not having read it earlier as now i find it too aewsome to put down. I havent had such a good read for months and now I cant wait to see what happens next.
The only thing I hate is hephaistion being a split personality. He's supposed to be Alexander's best friend, lover and confidant. But anyway, all good. I love how Olympias is portrayed.
And anyway, Alexander is my favorite historical hottie of all time (next is Cesare) but here I could see his 'child' side and its just toooo awesome

If you want not only to read manga and kill time, but also to somehow educate yourself in history and art of war, I recommend you to read this.
Art is nice, main character is interesting and funny, plot is entertaining.

This is one of my favorite mangas of all time, and there are many wonderful things about it.
That said, I'm a little disappointed by how Olympias and Hephaestion have been handled. I'd like to have seen a more layered, human portrayal of Olympias, who could have been a more complex character than your typical Eve-in-the-Garden-of-Eden seductress. Historically, Phillip had seven or eight wives; Olympias was only married once. She was a foreigner who was separated from her family and friends at a young age, and when she bore a son, she became very possessive of him. After Phillip lost interest in her and took a new, much younger wife and had another son, who was fully Macedonian, Olympias fought to protect her son's power and position. An opportunity was lost to flesh her out in this manga as a multi-faceted person, with fears and insecurities as well as ambitions.
And then, there's the matter of writing Hephaestion out of history. Hephaestion was a real historical figure, someone who was Alexander's closest friend and possible lover. His death and the pain it caused Alexander is one of the most important events in the story of Alexander and speaks to the cost of war making and gaining power. In short, Hephaestion is far too important a character to be one of Alexander's split personalities or a figment of his imagination. I understand that Iwaaki may have done this to avoid the issue of homosexuality, but this Hephaestion feels like a cop-out, which is a shame because this manga has the potential to be truly great.

When I began reading this I was wondering to myself why this series got so many amazing reviews. After about three chapters, I discovered why - I couldn't stop reading. The main character is a very interesting study - as he should be, since the bulk of the manga is focused on his thoughts and his journey. What impressed me the most is that this manga doesn't need anything flashy or tricky to engage its audience; the story itself is enough to draw the reader in. It is very hard to find a manga that does that well, and a historical one at that. Great work.
Huh? Is this the best manga ever?

The description makes this manga looks uninteresting but actually it is awesome
This is another manga which successfully recreate the world
A manga which successfully recreate the future : Red Eyes
A manga which successfully recreate the past : Historie
This manga is so good man, just read it and be stunned
The most awesome thing is the characters, their expressions and development, I actually cried at one point, hiks, this is awesome

I think this is a manga you should read. This is literally one of those mangas where you can say "this is a masterpiece in the making". The story grows, its pace changes, immerses you into it, and draws out your expectation. I feel like the mangaka is just showing us the tip of the iceberg here, and I feel such ambition in this story. Hard to describe and analyze like I would usually do for others, this one just feels like it should be seen as a whole. And wow it is good.

this is a real masterpiece and i would say that its to good to be a manga but be aware ,it will take one night of your life
