Pretentious, artsy, simply-minded, preachy, gimmicky, lots of narration, passive main character

If main characters are passive they might as-well not exist, yet it's told through his eyes. He watches a world change around him but does nothing but complain instead of coming up with solutions.

Anyone can complain about something. But if no solution or alternative is offered, if everything is presented as black and white it's nothing but pretentious drivel. This type of propaganda might persuade someone gullible but to me no real arguments were delivered.

Also Manga is a visual medium. Stop narrating things that are literally happening on the screen. The artstyle is just a gimmick because the artist can't or is too lazy to draw buildings in proper perspective. The little commentary that is delivered falls flat because of the limited text used. If I wanted to have two people sit down on a bench next to each-other deliver a conversation I wouldn't have used the manga format to deliver this information.
