All time favorite female lead

This is a manga I always reread for two reasons: its length and the characters. Kiri is by far one of the best female protagonists ever. The plot isn't even that good and it even gets repetitive. The art is not the best either. But Kiri, the character, is just so cool she makes the whole manga worth it.

well i really liked this manga, nearly everything about it was great, the only thing i didn't like was the romance, i mean it was basically non-existent, i think the romance tag should have been taken off and romantic-subplot category tag added instead
Cute and funny

I loved this series. The only downside with it was that it ended too quickly. I think the author just tried to wrap it up as fast as she could in the end. I would've liked the ending chapters to be a bit fuller. As in, longer chapters and dragging on the story a little bit more. The fact that there were no more chapters to read made me so surprised, since it didn't feel like an ending right there.
Apart from that it was really cute, some places were so bizarre though. To think that the world of "high-school-beauticians" could be so serious haha.
for you who thinnks that this is an all over romance manga; it's not. It's mostly comedy, but it is adorbale in it's own little way. it reminds me a lot of My Heavenly Hockey Club.

I wish I the author would've put a bigger emphasis on the Iori/Chisami commbo, because their personalities together makes an incredible comedy duo. I laughed my but of in the last chapter when you got to see those morons fighting. Funny and adorable haha.

i agree that this is lovely but i don't think there is enough to qualify it as romance. we never understand how or why the two leads end up together. i still don't think she likes him that way.
Love it

I keep referring and recommending this manga since it's so cute and loveable. The characters are interesting, funny, and unique. Sure, there are some parts in the manga in which you know what's going to happen; but the way they have to get there is funny and interesting enough to read. There are slight cliches in the story, but not loads of it. The romance was kept well, it wasn't push in every chapter; kinda like a sub-plot to the contests that she joined.
Kiri, I just love her and her few words. She's a bit like others, but isn't since she actually tries to do something. She doesn't sit back and let others do it, but she will wait till she's needed. She helps everyone she can, even if she doesn't know them. Something happened in her past which caused problems later on (I still wished this was more dramatic but it's okay). First she starts off with no friends (okay, well there's that one dude), but soon a group is formed around her. She was quite silence at first, but she became a bit more opened.
Narumi was just one of those bad boys, but he greatly grows athought the manga. He's short temper and funny to the boat. He has this winning streak that he's proud of, which is funny later on. I love the ending with this character. I don't have much to say other than, he's funny, cute. His friends are enjoyable. Kei (the candy-eater) is my favorite, as is the glasses dude.
Side characters are funny (I keep saying this a lot). I love the side pairings they added, but I wish there were more; but then again, it was mainly males and very little females.
Overall, I love this. I will reread this again, which is something I barley do.

I am very picky with the female protagonists I like, because most females are a dime a dozen, but Kiri is not like that, at all. Even Haruhi, from Ouran, whom I also like, when she realized her feelings for Tamaki, for a bit there she kinda lost her cool, what I liked about Kiri was that she never let it show, when Narumi finally confessed, she was like "Oh, so that was it." She wasn't at all flustered, it was natural, Narumi was the flustered one!
Sure, there are some things in the story that feel rushed, or forced, I would have loved to see more of Billy in the end, but in general, this is probably my favorite shojo with a female as the lead (my fave shojo of all time is probably Natsume Yuujincho).

This is the best Shoujo lead i have seen in this genre
it's not your usual Lovey-Dovey shoujo but the main focus is the side plot which is the "Salon" and hair Styling with Romance as a Sub Plot
the female lead is very strong and i like how the story progressed with good ending

This manga definitely stands out from a lot of of shoujo manga for a number of reasons!
For a start, the protagonist (and this is a main selling point of the series, I think) is not your typical cutesy, sweet crybaby pushover who falls in love at the drop of the hat. She's strong, confident and quite absent-minded - it can seem she's cold at times too, but many occasions show her kind nature shining through.
Secondly, the mangaka's sense of humor is great - you can't help but laugh often at things characters say (and they have interesting personalities). This is what carries the story in my opinion!
The storyline is pretty set around the world or hairdressing and somewhat repetitive situations therein - never straying from it for longer then a page or two - but strong dialogue and humor manages to carry it through without it becoming boring.
The one downside - for me - was the ending. I won't give it away but I think if the last chapter (an epilogue of sorts) were left out it would have actually been better.
Besides, I was rooting for Occhi-sempai (Narumi just didn't do it for me - though his temper was really funny I found his personality less interesting then others).

The female lead is definitely not those girly types or characters, its actually quite rare to find a female lead like Kiri in a manga. I just love her motto, "Let me add some magic" i always love those moments. Its totally funny how Kiri is just like her dad and how Narumi is just like his dad. This manga is definitly a must read if you're looking for a slow romantic plot, and enjoyable comedy.
Just so the readers know, i have not yet finished the manga while i am posting this

I don't read shoujo much nowadays, although I still think Beauty Pop is a real gem amongst shoujo. The main female protagonist is seriously likeable since she is just so different to all the cliched heroines floating around lately: kind yet cold, indifferent, a bit apathetic. She also doesn't really care for romance much at all, doesn't randomly blush nor cry easily, doesn't care about her appearance (just retaining a simple bob even though she's an expert haircutter), and isn't weak enough that she'd lose to the main male rival. Seriously, she is just so fresh and interesting in contrast to the heroines from typical shoujo manga. The focus on haircutting throughout also sounds a bit lame, but is actually quite interesting and drives the story forward. Definitely recommended.
