Great start, horribly misdirected afterwards

The first two Volumes are an quirky interesting read with an adventurous feel to it, especially for RPG fans.
The Series soon after drowns in Shoujou smut, without ever recovering.
Coupled with the loss in direction, the overarching plot feels more like a collage of mood themes and wilful decisions to move characters and themes all over a map, without much to string it all along.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I'm not awfully fond of Rape and pointless mutilation, both do play a larger role in the later volumes.
The RPG elements are also soon after phased out for blanket deus-ex machina.

A prime example how loss of inspiration and direction can destroy a intriguing premise quickly, very disappointing.
I'm glad it took me 7 years to realize this was Licensed and published.
I'll fondly remember the start of the series but I'm not keeping the volumes.
