Description
In the "Tsukuroiya" series:
Volume 1: Awai no Mori
Volume 2: Madoi no Tobira
Within the boundary separating one world from the next, “rips” in the fabric of space will occasionally form. These tears allow the two worlds to bleed into each other, and, if left unattended, may threaten the everyday lives of the people living nearby. To find and repair these distortions, a seamster named Rem travels around the world along with his companion, a mechanical doll in the shape of a small girl.

I?m surprised to see the lack of reviews and cover following this series. Though them again, it being a shoujo, it probably didn?t have the suitable genre?s for it to get alot of attention in the west. I this would have definitely suited a josei or seinen more. That being said, the tailor series is wonderfully creative in it?s story telling and a very charming tale about a tailor that travels across dimensions to seal back up the faults across time along with this doll assistant. From what I have read, you won?t find romance in this story where you may be thinking to find it, which is why I believe it hasn?t gotten as mich coverage as most shoujo?s would, it cannot pull off a Natsume?s book of friends, but it definitely makes up for it?s heartwarming moments. Each chapter consists of a new mystery, which each time has a very unique twist to it, making it so you are never truly on the mark with guessing on how the story is going to end. For me the story hones back slightly to a seinen I really love reading called Somali and the forest spirit, which is probably because the doll herself was a forest spirit and it plays with a young child apprentice and older male guardian dynamic. The story itself is of course different, but definitely the dynamic is the same.
I wouldn?t read this if you are looking for a dazzling epic fanatsy shoujo romance like shirayukihime or a supernatural romance like shounen dolls. But if you want something cute with an alikeness to fairytales and some really i teresting mysteries, this is definitely my reccomendation and it is something I am looking flrward to seeing the continued translation of. I can only say good things about it!!
