Description
Is this a dream? Reality? Or maybe something else...?
Every night, a mysterious man who styles himself Peter Pan sneaks up in Manami's room. He takes her with him to Neverland, an eerie place created out of human desire. Neither pain nor obligation exist in this place. A fairytale land of freedom, where people live governed only by their own instincts. There, all of reality's troubles and unpleasantness may be forgotten. However... being human may not be quite as bad as it sounds.

Messy and illogical

Jiro once again makes a seinen manga that makes no damn sense. However, this manga was a little bit more interesting as it’s a twist of the old tale of never land.

this is one messy manga, the art is unique but not as clean as one used to. but to me it is very appropriate with the chaotic characters and plot, it bring the whole dizzying atmosphere. i like the characters, and wendy is the type of strong girls that is hard to find in the manga world. this is a good read if one like a short exploration to a hedonistic world.

If you're looking for some rational story with logical explaination, clean cut character and easy to follow storyline, I suggest you either looking for other manga or don't touch seinen manga at all, because Wendy is definitely a seinen manga and it contains many tricky stuff that are really hard to get into.

The neverland world in Wendy is not the kind of happy world of Disney, but more of an corrupted adult neverland for escapist. Killing, sex, fantasy and estacy, couldn't get more seinen than this. Then you meet a psycho Peter Pan who constantly engages in either killing or sex, you're forced be dragged around with him and somewhere along the way curious about him and his twisted world, along with a whole set of crazy characters. A lot of thing doesn't make sense in this story, but why an imagination world has to make sense anyway, just take the ride and enjoy all the absurd events of Wendy.

I find the story rather interesting despite a few plot holes in the story. it's like some unlogical dream with fast pace turn and cliffhanging event. Should it be longer it might be developed into something more complete than this, but still Wendy is intriguing enough for me. The art is messy but fits the mood of the story well, adding a weirdo feeling into it, yet for some people it might become a nuisance to get into.

Unique take

But didn't suit my tastes. The art style is interesting but it doesn't effectively present it's intentionally comedic moments well. For me the story leaves plot holes, with no explanation of many concepts introduced, and a lot of seemingly needless additions. It's different, but it doesn't deliver. After reading it I felt no fulfillment, as if I hadn't read anything at all. My advice is to read it if you are in need of something unusual, but avoid it if you want something spectacular or moving in any way.

Worth it

This is sort of an Alice in Wonderland take on Peter Pan, it's a bit nonsensical but you can draw a sort of line through the story. The art style is messy but I think it complements the story and adds to the mood.
There's nothing really great about this manga, but I think most people will find this to be worth the 20min or so they spend reading it.

Psychological story, loosely based on Peter Pan

Wendy is a little bit of a peculiar story. And not for those that are easily disturbed. Drawing from a feeling that many readers can probably relate to, of wanting to escape reality and responsibility, the author paints a dark, bizarre world where a person can live out their vices. Where Peter, and other paralleled neverland characters, live without reason. But intermixed is a story of coming of age, and of understanding.

The story itself comes together very well. Not a lot necessarily happens, and not a lot gets resolved, but it serves its purpose in bringing up the questions and possibilities, and leaving the reader to come to a few conclusions on their own.

escapist adult take on peter pan

Spoiler (highlight to view)
that title was entertaining for me in a seinen kind of way...it has a messy art style that might turn off some ppl and when there's action it's really hard to understand what's going on..also the art can be considered bad as well but it certainly has an interesting flair to it and it's very complicated with many lines in a messy way though

the basic idea is of one adolescent girl going through some real shit in her life...not quite unique i know but it mixes an adult take on peter pan as well and the result is indeed unique

i remember reading the first couple of volumes of freesia from the same mangaka when they came out literally ages ago and i'm pretty sure they had an equally messy art style but it's been so long...

captain hook has a crush on peter pan (lol)...i loved also what he said to him at some point "What happened to you? You've become pretty sharp suddenly...I see. You've been eating fish." (rofl)

there's one thing i don't really understand with the car crash that happened at the beginning of the story. It says a few things about growing up and a bit metaphorical at parts but rather than that i perceived it as one crazy and weird ride to fantasy land and i believe that was the intention...
