This is really a crappy manga in every way. Not only is most episodes IDENTICAL in the flow and how they're executed, it's usually completely illogical and screwed up in every way possible. It's EXTREMELY boring and bland. I don't know how the author managed to write such a trainwreck. Even stuff filled with clichés can often be really good, but this is just horrible. This author has NO talent, don't bother reading it.

Terrible

This is among the worst manga I've read recently and I've dropped several.

Ranting:
The plot is ridiculous, the defenses are supposed to be some kind of detective mystery solving yet are no more than his search for an item and them miraculously coming up with a tale that makes sense and voila! he's innocent!!? no logic, no deduction, no clues, nothing, he learns the truth by osmosis? how is that interesting? Furthermore, the "dark-matter" only envelops sinners yet they are all innocent and have it, the devils can't affect the real world yet they do so all the time, and where the hell is god in all this? watching and having a laugh? by the time the author realized he had forgotten about the "good" side God had already forsaken who knows how many souls to hell. Not to mention the representative of "good" is a renegade nun excommunicated by the church..., so again, where is god?
And the fights? how lame can they be that the shinigamis can't kill someone with no powers? talking about a one-sided fight, he has no powers, the shinigami need no authorization or judgement or due process to condemn souls, if he looses not only the accused goes to hell but he also becomes dust¿?, on the other hand, the shinigami if they loose... nothing happens to them, they have limitless powers, other shinigami allies and all the underworld in their back and go unpunished if putting innocents in danger yet they are in charge of punishing the sinners... even so, he wins every single time saving the poor soul at the last moment when falling to hell... cut the crap.
Devil tennis, Holy cars with gadgets, evil devils that turn good for no reason, the list is long, it doesn't take itself seriously and it doesn't have a pinch of sense.
Then we have the main char, the son of the devil king who with no real reason turned out to be sainter than Maria Theresa, must have been his uprising... or his ridiculous sidekick that can't be more annoying and ain't funny at all.

In a sum, I didn't expected a deep plot or deep mysteries or refinement in the characters in a shounen manga but a little sense and likable chars is a must for me. And I dropped it so maybe some of the things above are answered (as usual in retrospective, a solid story makes sense from the get go, it doesn't try to make sense of things latter as it goes), in any case, it failed to hook me at all and it took some patience to read till ch15 that some said it's were it gets good... but it didn't get any better, so in my eyes, a failure.

I really liked it at first - it was refreshing and substantially funny. However it became a rather generic action-adventure that lost the essence of its initial premise. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't all bad. It was just disappointing.

Kucabara as a character was entertaining, certainly. He's funny and bad-ass. Maybe its just me but the constant 'big reveal' of his secrets eventually got old. It's a method for character development, but the execution wasn't the best. Why would he go through all the trouble to hide everything? I mean, yes, he's a really angelic guy (pun intended) but why risk your relationships and their lives for that? Actually, some of the big reveals renders some of the past plot points meaningless.

The other characters are quite memorable as well: the bad-ass sister Idamaria, the hot demon model Shugarl (<3 Love this guy) and the adorable Bichula. The other others come and go.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The ending didn't make sense to me. Not at all. Call me a killjoy but I'm sorry! I really wanted to like it, but the excess of Deus Ex Machinas just killed it. No seriously, the thought of Shugarl being raised from the dead is definitely exciting, but the reveal of the Apocalypse Potion was just....ugh

Twists

Twist twist twists , twist everywhere. It went like : great-boring-nice-huh?-okay?-meh-woah!

It started off great, specially the MC being a badass, happy-go-lucky Devil. but it suddenly went boring when they dragged on a part too much. there's hilarious and awesome scene from time to time but you can't just help but skip some parts.--- Then suddenly came the TWISTS.

THERE'S SO MUCH TWISTS that some things can't be explained anymore! There's the cliche twist, annoying twist and useless twist all in one manga. Luckily, the ending was quite great so i didn't had to curse the author.

I'll give this one an 8 over all.

One of my favourite mangas

Maybe 10 would seem a lot, but I enjoyed it alot and I feel it is the right rate.

In the first chapters the routine was: mystery solved in a Detective Conan style, blows, win, mystery, blows, win, mystery blows, win... Why the hell there should be a fight after a "process" I dont know, but thats okay.
Then it turned without preadmonition in an action/adventure shonen, with some romance to comllete the plate.

Anyway I liked the story and the drawings, it entertained me.

Actually, it was kinda interesting at the start, yet it's turned into a cliche thing.
Starting as a demon lawyer, ended as yet another generic battle shounen manga. Yup, the main character is getting some xtra power for who-knows-where that defy the setting there (Yeah, I bet the author just thinking something new, and put it there)

In summary, if you love that shounen battle manga, then you might find it interesting, but if you're expecting a good structured plot, then skip it, it's not worth your time.

I don't know if it's fair for me to review this manga because I didn't really "read" it. I read the first 20 chapters, literally picked a handful of chapters at random after that, then read the last chapter and from that I had absolutely no desire to read the whole thing.

I thought the theme was brilliant. A demon lawyer who tries to save innocent souls has to be one of the most creative plots I've heard in a while, but it utterly failed to capture my interest which made me very sad because I thought it had wonderful potential.

The art was great, I "liked" the characters though, obviously, I didn't get attached to them, and the theme was ace. I just thought it lacked something. I don't know if I missed the "spark" that got everyone so hyped about this manga, but I failed to enjoy it.

I liked the oneshot, but seeing that same plot used over and over again was so repetitive and boring. Maybe if it was an anime I would be more inclined to watch it since the chapters seemed like episodes (from the few I read) rather then a continuous plot.

And it's bloody rare that I make a "suggestion" for a manga, but I would have preferred it if Kukabara had something like 24 hours to prove that the soul was innocent or both he AND his client would be punished. The fact that the shinigami lollygagged while Kukabara found evidence was quite unsuspenseful.

Well, I could just rant on for bloody hours, but, in the end, I feel bad because I just couldn't get into it despite everyone liking this so much. Definitely would have been better as an anime. Manga form was just too boring.

The story start of nice. But maybe around 50 chapter your will be asking yours self questions. Not to bad until your reach 9, everything are just being rush too the end. Still I did enjoy the the book.

Art
Very good art, characters are well done. And I like the artist style of drawing.

Story

rush at a certain point of the story, but still keeps your interest. You might bee asking your self many questions though.

Romance
The artist is an amateur in romance, you only see ram cue on the last chapter and it was not really what I called Romance. Buuuuuut.... Romance is romance

Good and bad
Some people who are religious might either be offend or take it the wrong way. If you read this don't compare it with religion. I have nothing else to say beside I'm not religious so whatever I say might not have any meaning.

Overall
I'm not sure if it was too bad or good, but what I do know is that I raid the book all the way to the end.

0.0 ok, so I'm quite happy I didn't read the reviews until AFTER I finished reading the actual series because the series itself? It was EPIC!!!!!!!! *_* especially the last 15 or so chapters, those just tied in many little loose ends that had been left hanging all over the story and just RAMMED emotion into me! I don't want to add spoilers so I'll say this, one of the character's made me cry for 2 minutes straight TWICE, the second time being in extreme happiness biggrin! Also, the fact that in the end they leave it open for a sequel is really nice, hopefully the sequel (cross-fingered in hope of hopes!) is just as good as this one.

Ok, admittedly, the story has a slow beginning, and get's kinda tedious at times but the ending is WORTH IT, is all I want to add to this ^^~
