The third installment in Uramiya Honpo, Reboot consists of volumes 27-39 of the overall series. Like the original, Reboot starts off slowly, with episodic cases resolving after just a chapter of two. The main cast from the previous series returns, with the addition of a poisonous seductress from the Yokohama branch. The art and character designs continue to improve, and some of the covers and color pages have become quite impressive.
Like its predecessors, the series focuses on the revenges carried out by the Grudge Shop for a wide range of clients, usually those affected by a sexual assault, murder of a loved one, a financial devastation or an unbearably humiliating experience.
The pace of the series changes around volume 6, when longer cases and an overarching villain are introduced. Revealed gradually overtime, this villain is revealed to be a former member of the Grudge Shop who began his own service, the "Avenge" "resentment firm," which carries out acts of brutal violence.
While most of the longer arcs add momentum to the story and do an impressive job of building characterization while gradually introducing the resentment firm, a couple of these stories (volume 9 comes to mind) felt a tad dragged out without much contribution to the overall plot. 10's single-volume story, however, was great.
By mid-volume 11, the most pivotal events of the series begin. My favorite cases in the series were those that had personal importance to the various members of the Grudge Shop, as their backstories were often revealed in the process.
Unfortunately, the series is cut short by an abrupt ending and inconclusive ending. Rather than a poor judgment by the mangaka, this is most likely due to the discontinuation of Business Jump, the magazine that serialized the series up to this point. The series immediately transitioned to the next installment, Uramiya Honpo Revenge, in the magazine's replacement, Grand Jump.
Despite the length of the Uramiya Honpo series, Reboot is a solid standalone read by itself. For maximum enjoyment however, I highly recommend first checking out its predecessors, and then reading Revenge for the story's ongoing continuation.
