Description

The once peaceful land of Egypt has been stained with blood under the tyrannical rule of Seth, the god of war. I've finally caught up on Season 2 and wanted to do a spoiler-light review. It's been a 10/10 since the beginning.

Ennead Trigger Warnings:

Drugging, attempted rape, rape, gang rape, rape by deception, incest, SA victim blaming, physical child abuse, child death.

The Story: Addicting and tragic. There's so many moments where things the author placed into motion tens of episodes previously come to fruition, and the payoff has been insanely satisfying every time. I was a huge fan of Percy Jackson/Carter Kane as a kid, and Ennead scratched a mythology itch I hadn't realized I'd had this whole time.

The themes of betrayal, the desire for family, and the consequences of loneliness hit hard, and I think Mojito does an amazing job of exploring them.

The Characters: Complex and imperfect. I love snarky and evil main characters, and Seth does not disappoint. It makes his growth in Season 2 all the more satisfying. Almost all of the main cast do gray to outright evil things. You'll probably go from outright hating a character to rooting for them to grow and redeem themselves.

The women in this are powerful and smart, and many of them have key roles in the story. This is kinda rare in BLs, so I thought it was really refreshing to see.

The Romance: Dead in a ditch except for some great banter until mid-season 2. BUT if you're up for a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers with emotional baggage that weighs as much as the sun, it's worth it.

When Seth finally had consensual sex, I cried. It was so sweet, and 1000% worth the wait.

The Art: Absolutely gorgeous. It's very distinctive and I love every aspect of it. The character designs are especially amazing, with both the men and women looking stunning. The fights are drawn so clearly and are such a treat to read. Some people said that the art quality started dropping in Season 2, but I haven't seen that at all.

Final Thoughts: Absolutely head-over-heels for Ennead. I've already bought/preordered the physicals for Season 1, and I'm gonna be salivating for Season 2's physicals for the next while.

I HIGHLY recommend reading the 16+ version of the Season 1 extra if you're reading the Mature version. It brings some much-needed happiness to the depths of despair you'll be in after reading the Mature version's extra.

Season One is Great

Season one of this series is fantastic, but season two... let's pretend it doesn't exist. It does mean that s1 would end in a cliffhanger, but trust me, it's better than continuing to read s2 of the series.(Rating is for only for s1.)

I like to think of ENNEAD as an Egyptian gods and goddesses soap opera. It is incredibly dramatic and thrilling. There will be twists, and turns, and reveals, that will have you gasping out loud and say, whaaaaaat? No one is free from flaws. And the major gods and goddesses are not completely free from blame. You may think that you know these characters, but what you first see is not who they really are.

It really is a great (first season only) series, but you do have to commit and read a lot of chapters. And the BL tag doesn't enter until later. The story itself is still good; the trial for the ruler of Egypt is compelling. But wow, the story is really elevated when you find out the backstory and true objectives of some of these characters.

Season 2 is a total failure

It’s hard to judge this story…it started well…but S2 was a total failure and not up to my expectations. Seth, throughout the whole season, has become a damsel in distress and losing neurons when the author found it fit for the “plot” therefore no consistency…what else? Oh yeah! So many rapes. As if the author wants to teach Seth his lesson or make him redeem through sexual violations 😅😅 I expected this trope from those old 80s/90s BL mangas but not in 2023.

Either way, a mess.

I agree that all Ennead god's are pure trash but I love Seth.
I believe he was the best god ever before his family betray him.
just imagine you get raped by your brother, the person you served faithfully and your wife whom you loved to your bones cheating on you and give you your brother's child as your child and lie to you.
please just show me someone besides Seth who can handle this situation without killing himself!!! after all that happened he couldn't bring himself to kill his stupid wife and the child he raised hundred of years as his own!!! Seth is too kind to be called a Villain or bad person!
I know it doesn't justify that he killed a lot of people (because of his anger) and that he couldn't bring himself to kill his wife and Anubis but please have mercy on him and instead blame Osiris because he was the one who started everything. in my opinion Isis is to be blame too! because she could stop Osiris! she is the most powerful mage for god's sake!!!
I think Seth's punishment is really unfair. he shouldn't have gotten raped again and again after all that shit that happened to him!!!!
and what is with FG😕 I thought finally we've got some sane, funny and a bit perverted guy who can love Seth and treat him better because he deserve it but he is no better than Osiris. they all want his body :' )
the only person I stand for is Horus.
after what happened between them he took full responsibility without saying it and stand besides Seth despite his bad temper and all those punches.

but it's a fact that this story is full of sensitive topics ... at first I really couldn't handle it but then I found myself reading all 110 chapters in 3 days...
my heart was broken ever since the truth of main character's madness was revealed... I'm a psychology student and I enjoyed character analyzing and events but at the same I was amazed... the main character of this story has this hidden charm that despite all his wrong doings I couldn't hate him... I really love him... I reread Ennead 5 times and I'm still amazed...
what was going on the main character's mind when he was enduring this much pain and did all those things? :' )

Don't get me wrong, I love Seth and Horus, but the amount of rape scenes, many of them out of nowhere, clearly forced just to be added... it's pathetic! You can see that the author adds scenes with each character that appears, probably only to please each shipper, but it's just sad now...Seth is constantly raped, over and over again... disgusting
Also...those scenes with raping Jesus were truly unnecessary...

The author probably doesn't have any good idea anymore and drugs the story on by force....

9/10. [SPOILERS BELOW]

Firstly, my favorite character is Seth but I'll never cover up his guilty. All are punishment (he kills lots of people and makes mistakes throw out thousand years). Though, he's not really at fault (he was cheated by his wife-in-law). Can say, he's victim also is a criminal. The perspective and regret are described very honestly. I sympathize.

Secondly, I admire the love of his crazy brother - Osiris. Mojito (author) excellent depiction of his twisted and somewhat sick psyche. 😀

And Horus - an uncharacteristic character in my eyes, I have nothing to say. Anyways, i likes the way he thinking of Seth.

All of the Gods (Ennead) are trash (in many aspects) "Love" has no meaning at the story, they think it's "love" but basically it's just loneliness, longing, possessiveness.

What frustrates me is the way Mojito built Thoth and some times the plot is rush.

You SHOULDN'T READ it if you can't read r/ape genre. (Or read 16+ version). It's just a "product of imagination", enjoy.

My comment is a bit interrupted (because it's the first time I "review" a series) but overall, this story is very new and interesting, the character building is great, the emotions are very real. We can realize that the things people worship are sometimes terrible and wrong (i mean not anything as we thought), at least the story has a lot of humanity if you can feel it.

Originally I don't have plan to write a comment here but I don't get the problem of two ppl under this comment lol maybe it's time for them to read some myth stories to see author done such a fantastic job.
I think all of those gods are trash including Seth.
He deserves all punishment, he kills ppl without a reason like a mad man for hundred years, he deserves everything they throw at him.
His crazy brother who obsessed over him is such a important part of the story and author done it so good, its give such a big and lasting impact, hats off.
Totally enjoyed it and can't wait for more.
Addictive and interesting.
I like Seth as a character, he got a weird charm even under all his flaw, he is like a kid even when he become crazy, stubborn and full of stupid pride like a child lol + I ship him with that god from another country, he is funny and they look good together, he ease situation for Seth, at least he is not some obsessed freak like Horus and his dad, hope author end this story with Seth leave his country and everything and go live with him in the end and set himself free.
Totally recommended.

The story that I regret reading most.
Yes, rape, as always and no one in here is the real victim. All the characters are selfish, freaky and lost to their own lust, they got no self-esteem at ALL. They are god but they’re not even close to an animal.
Thus the author keeps torture seth to the point of ... bullsht. And I hate the she’s too obsessed with him, I think she wants to make seth look as pitiful as possible so that people might feel sympathetic to him . Well that didn’t work for me, I think he’s pathetic and coward.
Yet the most hated guy in here is that green a$$ perverted broccoli guy. His character is wayy too twisted that words can’t even describe . He’s no god, rather, a maggosts.
Sorry, but this story is so dramatic, I hate it so much.
