Amusing but gets old after a while

Well, I kinda liked it. It made me laugh out loud quite few times along with frequent small laughs and a bit of smiling. It's way, way over the top and almost everything they do is completely fcked up in one way or another. The main cast in this manga are almost all freaking lunatics, insane to the core. They go along with their stupid shenanigans and misadventures every chapter while doing stuff that no sane human should ever do. It's amusing, however, it's not without faults which is why I give it a 6.5 instead of an 8... It's above average but not quite great, it's around good with some great moments... something like that.

So, as for the things I didn't like... The first is probably that while the gags are fairly funny, it gets old pretty fast. Towards the end I found myself almost skipping pages, only skimming through the parts that didn't seem interesting. The second thing I disliked is actually the setting and the way the author writes it. It's clear the authors life had started to derail and he found himself questioning life and perhaps cursing society and that really shows in this work, I seem to remember that his earlier work were more comedy and less of this society bullshit. While he's always covering it up with gags and weird responses, we repeatedly see the author taking stabs at society and trying to portray how screwed up life can be. I tried to ignore it and not think that much about what they said and just care about the joke, but this whole thing is full to the brim of negative thoughts and other things about the darker side of our world. It's NOT what I want when I read comedy, I read stuff to get away from society and reality, not to get reminded and have things added on top of that, well, luckily it's never serious enough to really matter. It's clear that this manga was probably the starting point of the depression this author must be going through, because later on he wrote some quite fcked up manga about realistic depressing things, things that get so depressing that it's not even realistic anymore. Too bad, because this author was fairly good at comedy, but none of his other works except for the earlier one(ping pong club) is really worth reading unless you want to become depressed.

Other than that, the ending sucked. Really bad. It suddenly ended and nothing was resolved. I mean come on, that must be one of the worst endings I've seen, even if I never expected a great ending for a manga like this where the point is about how worthless the characters are and how their lives suck along with not having any talents and being generally fcked up in the head, but you can do better than that...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They ran away from the home they mooched off because of "overstaying their welcome" and we don't get a proper closing scene or anything about them or what happened later.
Then they go back to where they left from in chapter one and try to take their fathers house, but being the alcoholic family abuser he is, he beats them bloody, along with their friend, so after a fistfight we get to see them crying and then there's something about calling someone and poof,
end. Great, a manga that ends with child abuse, parent irresponsibility along with criminal violence and the main cast beaten bloody and crying. So... nothing really changed from the start. Good. Shit that's bad.
... So, yeah. This author has some major issues since he's writing stuff like this and his later works, he should probably see someone that can help him get a better view on life again.

In the end, it was pretty funny, but sometimes it took things to a too depressing level and brought too much exaggerated "Real life tragedy" into the story(which gets worse towards the end), along with a horrible ending this was absolutely not worth above 6.5 which is the top of the top that I'm willing to give it. It should probably get a 5 for average, but I'm giving it some extra points for making me laugh a lot. Try to ignore all issues he brings up, going only for the gags and don't read the last few chapters and this is a great way to pass a day or so with.

Boku to Issho manages to poke fun at things you'd never normally consider laughing at. Features extremely over the top humour but it occasionally demonstrates that is smarter than it appears to be. You have to have a quirky sense of humour to appreciate some of the jokes in it, but even the shallow gags will make you laugh frequently enough.

The ending was a huge let-down, don't expect any serious closure or development from this one either. Which is a shame, I really would've wanted to see where this doomed trio would end up at.

It is pretty off the wall comedy with completely random happenings, but its far more wacky than Beavis and Butthead. This is more crazy whereas Beavis and Butthead is more reserved. Still very good! This is the first I've read of Minoru's comedy manga and I am enjoying it.

I would say its like beavis and butthead if they were funny. Dont get me wrong, Im Not saying B&B was bad or anything, but Boku to Isso is the weirdness of Beavis and Butthead with ironic humour
