nice, but surprisingly many thing is still in dark

well, the story is quite good, and i like it
but then, errr... dunno who is the main char in this manga, mikami or tadao,
because if it's tadao, it can be a harem manga biggrin

but some of story keep in the dark and no further explanation, like in the demon arc, with the firefly demon, it's not clear how is their relation and is she come back or not

and the ending is kind an axed ending
so this rating is fair enough from me

Good, easy read

The manga has a very interesting premise and main characters and it's easy to see why it's so popular.
For starters i loved the art.
Then you have some very nice character development and a good, funny storyline overall.
I finished this manga in about a week some time ago and it surprised me how i breezed throughout the characters, it's so easy to read, funny and imaginative that i only wondered why i didn't read it and finished it years ago. Maybe it was the length that scared me at first.
But one thing's for certain: it grows on you.
Yokoshima, like many before me have said it, turned out to be an amazing character and the development he shows throughout the series is very impressive.
The only reason i don't give this a 10 is because, honestly i don't know. What the hell 10 it is.
A very good manga that i highly recommend!

Surprisingly Good

There are many great story arcs in this manga. The comedy is great and it's shounen manga but there is not too much power ups in this manga. Mikami is a funny character and the interaction between her and Yokoshima is really great. The story is quite addictive.

The downside is that the manga is quite long. I kind of got bored with the manga maybe because I was reading lots of chapters in multiple sittings. I took a break for a couple of days and came back to the manga and the spark came back for me.

Anyways the manga is good so I recommend this manga.

Kept me entertained!

I usually don't write comments for any of the mangas I read but I felt I had to write one for this!
This series is interwoven with a plot which only gets intense around the later stages(vol 29-35). Most of the chaps in this I felt were fillers. Don't worry though, the sub plots will keep you more than interested. Hats off to the author for keeping me entertained with slapstick comedy, almost a hidden romance between the protagonists and nice emotional arcs. As others below me have mentioned, there are crappy chaps which would make you put the manga down but interspersed with them are awesome chaps too! The best part about this manga is how it develops the character of a pervert and a moron and who later becomes one of my favorite characters. Well, not favorite, I still liked Mikami more xD. But in my opinion this is definitely worth a read despite the series being huge. Somewhere in between you'll definitely get hooked on which will make you read till the end. By the way, there are hardly enough people who have it on their reading list/ completed list. This series deserves more! Just read and find out how good it is.

I can't entirely put my finger on why I liked this. I'm not into shounen, I really hate weak male leads, and as a girl I obviously can't enjoy perverted moments from a guy's point of view. What stopped me from dropping this at volume 1 was Mikami, one of the best female leads ever: capable, beautiful, confident, bad-ass. But just not very kind... hee. As I continued reading, I grew genuinely in love with the unique story and begun to appreciate the slow but sure character growth from all characters, but especially Yokohama. I read this awhile ago so I don't remember how funny it was anymore, but definitely the story was good enough for me to read this super long series to the end-- definitely unexpected. So try this out and keep reading, maybe you'll be surprised smile

fun characters, wacky plotline, over the top action...great manga to pick for a quick laugh and can be dropped and picked at any time and any place. toward the end theres some semblance of an arc, but it never detract the comedic craziness in this series.

It's fairly good and even kept me entertained in 2010. Not going to say and spoil it for anyone else just read it and if you don't like it stop. It does however start a little bit slow and it took me 3 tries in order to finally complete it all.

Character growth

GS Mikami starts with average, or even below average art and almost random plot. Soon it turns into one of best shounen series I've ever read, and I read a lot. Last part of GSM is closer to seinen manga than to shounen.
I don't want to spoil, but strongest part of this manga is character growth. To be precise - Yokishima character growth. He is, not Mikami, the main protagonist of this manga, and he really goes "from zero to hero". And I don't mean "hero" in Dragon Ball meaning....

Weird combination

At times I was thoroughly bored of it, and then I got hit from the side by something that dragged me right back into it. For every boring chapter there are dozens of good ones, and it while I still wished for more actual story, more progress overall, and more real character development (not just power development).. it was pretty good and a book I would recommend.
This is one of those rare series where all the failures don't compare to the successes, and it is very easy to look past the failings and see the good stuff.

I enjoyed it a lot and this is a very good shounen/comedy/supernatural series. The comedy is always there and there is a seriousness throughout the story. I should give this a 10 but I had a slight dislike during the final arc and I expected more from the last chapters.
