Cute collection of one-shots

Ayakashi Koi Kitan is a series of one-shots that retell the stories of Western ballets like The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty in an Edo era Japanese setting.

I ended up looking up a lot of the ballets online, since I wasn't too familiar with them, and Kamata Kimiko has given them all interesting twists and changes, so even if you know the ballets well you will definitely be surprised. Despite the supernatural and almost-horror setting, the stories still have a cute and slightly comic tone.

The heroines all looked very similar in all of the stories, so that was a bit of a negative. Overall, I thought it was quite good for a collection of oneshots, though it is definitely more of a fun pleasure read than a quality manga.
