Description
From Tinte:
Suh Hyun-bin grew up under the cruel hand of street gangsters, but after her little brother dies, Hyun-bin runs away and is taken in by a rich family to be trained to become a bodyguard. However, she must hide that she is female, and pose as a man. And so, for eight years, she grows up as a cold, male, bodyguard. It looks like she'll be this way forever--until a fateful encounter with Lee Yun-ha shakes her very foundations, and leaves her conflicting with herself, as her feelings of love clash against her feelings of duty.

In the beginning, it wasn't that bad, but then it go to the point where it just got so unrealistic. The characters got annoying and just plain silly. Like seriously? How the heck can that be considered brotherly love? And not only that but the main character, how is possible that she can just go "Hyung, hyung, hyung, hyung" like an idiot for about 10 freaking volumes straight. The manhwa is so unrealistic to the point that I just started laughing before dropping it.
It's really just horrible. I don't know how I got to chapter 40 before just throwing it away.

This manhwa is absolute nonsense to the point that it's a parody. The storyline at the beginning was really good and had a lot of potential, but unfortunately, as it progressed, it got worse until it reached rock bottom. It was going at a rate at which it got so silly that it was funny, and made my want to gag most of the time as well as shout out "Really?! Are you effing serious?! The manwhaga uses the character's tragic pasts as a tool to gain the readers sympathy, but it could only go so far as to where a line was drawn. Sadly, she stepped over that line and punched the reader in the face with utter stupidity and no explanation for the characters senseless actions other than the said tragic past.

I got the feeling that the manhwaga was also in her own little fantasy world where senseless fighting could resolve everything as well as create disturbing romances and where there were no such thing as teachers or classes even though they were at so called school. In addition, this manhwa considers guys kissing on the lips and giving each other promise rings as an act of brotherly love as normal... I mean for gods sake woman, could you be any more silly?

In addition, I don't understand how the girl could have lost so easily to a guy who has had no training, after she herself has been training for most of her life as a professional bodyguard. I understand the whole men being stronger than women thing (unfortunately), but there are ways to go around it with proper training, hence she has been able to beat up so many of her male adversaries.. until now, and it had to be a skinny lil pretty boy. In addition, she's a sadist who loves to be beaten up by the guy she likes because that's how it happened... Love at first bash up. I mean really? 0_0 "Oh my, he's beaten the living shit out of me, I think I'm in love, hyung, Hyung, HYUNG!!" Annoying.. painstakingly annoying that I regret not listening to my natural instinct that said not to go near it.

Honestly, I don't know how this stupid series could go on for 32 volumes... someone said character development? Please, these characters are as 2-dimensional as the pages they were drawn on. The only thing that gave them an ounce of life was their past which becomes completely over used to the point where sympathy turns into disappointment.

Just like the rest of her works, nothing special, if you liked cliched lines that make you gag, and fighting scenes that makes you wonder how lame a human can be, and also if you like extremely bad art that fails to develop even after the artist's 100th work, this manhwa (which gives all manhwa a bad name) is for you. I will hope that scanlators will find some better manhwa out there to scanlate instead of these mass produced crap that this author and her teacher is coming up with.

I was allergic to shojos... until I read this series.

The art and the battle scenes seem somehow weak in comparison with other mangas, it's very cliché, but the story, atmosphere, and the deep relationships between the characters has made this manga a hit in my heart. I can feel the emotions of each characters in every chapter.
It's a story of sadness, love, deep friendship, which will make you cry, given you can see beyond the cliché art, and the, obviously, unrealistic and impossible situations : Hey, it's a manga, go watch TV if you want some (fake) reality.

I just can't stop reading this series and I recommend it greatly.

The beginning started of very shaky. But if you over look the loopholes, the story is very touching. 32 volumes will allow deep character developments, which is something we don't see in most mangas.
I do think it's getting more and more interesting. Separate plots will start converging together as the story continues.

ROFL. What is wrong with this manhwa confused confused confused confused ??/
Seriously I couldn't stop laughing.
It is the most unrealistic manhwa I've ever read.
It is so fake with all the situation that it's a joke to read.
But again, I'm still reading it to pass some free time. I guess the fakeness has its own charm to begin with lol.

Anyways, I like it a lot after reading the whole thing. The ending makes me cry because of happiness. I love the ending so much that it makes the whole manhwa turns from so so read to an awesome read. Read until the very end. This happy ending is the most satisfy one I found.

I completely agree with you, Mionime.

At first I actually did enjoy the manga. But at the part of the story where the main girl lost to the guy in their first fight, I was completely confused and thought to myself, "how the hell did she lose?", and thus, I quit reading it. She had YEARS of training and experience since she was trained to be a top bodyguard. I'm sure her training was strict, I mean she did train EVERY day after school since she was a child. And that guy... was at first just like any other weak fragile little rich prince boy until his parents died. Suddenly after one year, he became stronger than the girl who's had MANY years of top training and experience?

At that moment, this manwha became completely illogical to me.

Terrible

This is a very bad series with major problems in both the artwork and the storytelling. First, the artwork is third rate. The characters all look the same and everything is so static that the fight scenes look ridiculously fake.

The storytelling is also amateurish. The series introduces a ton of characters in the first few chapters and combines that with a fast pacing and constant shifts from one event to another. The result is a choppy and incoherent story and undeveloped characters that seem to act randomly. After several chapters, I still had no understanding of the characters, their actions, or the story.

I highly recommend that you stay away from this series, because almost any other series will be better than this mess.

typical korean manhwa?

So I started reading this manhwa after reading about its description here and thought it could be interesting, but the abundant school bullying, the prevalence of gangs, rich brats, scheming rich people...are these necessary components of a manhwa? So far I've read about 10 of them and they are all like this, makes me wonder what kind of society the people who created these live in. Also, there are way too many tragedies in this manhwa, and none of the people in there are normal.

I'm going to be harsh... This manhwa is utter crap. I have developed a general dislike for korean manga over the years, yet this one manages to top it. I don't understand why South Korea can manage to make such good television (especially story wise), yet manage to have this low a level of manga. Most I encounter seem to be either about (school) gangs or epic fantasy stories, both are always way over the top.

Pretty much every character in the manhwa is an annoying brat with a superiority (or inferiority) complex and most actions are pushed to the extremes.
I understand this manhwa is all about gangs, tragic pasts and the whole 'coming of age in a harsh world' thing. I think here in lies my failure to relate, I live in a fairly rich western country, never had a 'violent' school life and there aren't any gangs or the like in the neighbourhood. Also we have a things called police and detention facilities here, they tend to stop this kind of behaviour.
Even then, personal background should be irrelevant when reading, this is what distinguishes the good from the bad writers.

Storywise this manhwa is lacking, a number of decisions are made that just make no sense, everyone is constantly lashing out at each other for no apparent reason (other then unnecessary or undue resentment), romance is portrayed not as love but as obsession to the point of annoying.
Also it's lacking any real progress or feeling of destination. It needn't be realistic, but at least make it believable (logical) within the set parameters of the created universe and offer explanations to how things work in said universe.
I've said this before in other reviews, but using a tragic past as an excuse for undue resentment or (extreme) violent behaviour is a bad tool to use as a writer... Rich (parents) and a tragic past is even worse. Surprisingly, in the first few chapters a pretty good scenario is sketched to be used for the 'tragic past' excuse... Yet for some reason the writer decided to not use it.

I've lasted till chapter 40 and am under the impression that the only reason Hyun-bin is dressed as a guy is to create some situations for blackmail further on in the manhwa... At least give some believable reasons (like needing to hide from the gangsters).

That said, even I thought after the first few chapters that it had a lot of potential and would probably be a rather good story to read, sadly I was mistaken. I most definitely do not belong to the targeted audience.
