Finally Over

Air Gear proves again that Oh! Great can't write for shit. He is an excellent artist, no doubt of that, but artwork alone is not enought for a manga, you need plot too, and a good one would have helped this manga tremendously.

His idea for the manga was excellent. let's make a manga about roller blades. But he lost control of the story (as usual) around chapter 150 or so. The story was all over the place, you just couldn't understand what's going on anymore. Throwing so many info at the reader, then 50 chapters later that information is not important anymore.

My overall score is a 4. Below Average. Artwork alone can't save a manga, and Air Gear (with Tenjou Tenge) is a great exemple of that.

My recomendation for Oh! Great is:

You need to hire a writer to write for you or just stop doing manga altogether and just go to the Light Novel/Visual Novel market as a freelancer artist. Many people would play a Visual Novel with Oh! Great artwork.

Thank god it's over, and Oh! Great proves again that he has NO CLUE HOW TO END A SERIES.

lol. What a crack smoker. I swear he gets bored at the end and just start throwing random shit in there in order to fill space. Thank god it's over and I can pretend it ended 200+ chapters ago. God this series sure got boring and stale and weird.

After following this since the anime and continuing from the manga, it had a really cool concept. Both story and art work was great. As I was reading this from the continuation of the anime, there just seems to me the story was just getting dragged on and on and it made it pretty boring for me, but it picks up a bit near the end which I'm kinda glad the story ends at volume 36. To me if the story had any more volumes, I think it would just make this series really bad.

So it was a good read if you want to know what happens, but the ending didn't really tie everything up, but oh well.

What amazes me is, even though here you can read many diss comments, this shit still has 36 volumes and is ongoing. So, I won't say, just because it's popular it must be great but, if you like amazing drawings, awesome battles and cool powers, you've got it. If you're for stupid feelings and rofl situations, you got 'em. If you get off on mindless ecchi, funny sometimes and actually really cute, you got it too. This manga is packed with good things (and I haven't told the whole list yet). So, if you're just passing by and looking for a good manga to pass time, you got it, and then, it's up to your own judgement for the whole story-line because though it may be good(in my senses), it's true it has some quite fucked up point. But judging a whole 36 volumes for a few points is like Hitler nitpicking about skin-color, hair-color and the such.

An under appreciated Manga

If you consider yourself a science fan, genius, alone and read manga not for time pass but to learn something and consider it a form of wish(writer/world etc) then you have to read this manga. If you aren't sure about ecchi part don't let it bother you because good things come in many way. But if you read manga just for short fun, then you may want to turn away because the story will only confuse you.
Many of the comments say that this manga has no story line or characters are weak. But trust me, it's just that they don't get the manga that's all. If you understood every single detail of the manga, you will come to see that the writer is genius but under appreciated
Firstly story, It's simple(if you understandwink) yet complicated. It has a lot of philosophy which for once, aren't hollow. Taking a single instance, it lays down a beautiful message with amazing art.
The thing that I found interesting are here are the characters. They are really simple and 'real'. Of course at first they are shown as perfect, but as they go on, they unravel themselves and really feel alive to you. With his drawings, he really knows what he is doing.
The thing is, this manga feels complicated that's all. But in actuality it is quite simpe. Because I feel it isn't a hero centered manga(although it looks like other side) The thing you have to concentrate here is on the ideals of the characters of the character. It says one can change themselves, in a real convincing way. If you aren't enjoying it, then don't read. Because you will find yourself really confused like most of the people here

First of lets get one thing strait : YOU CAN NOT MAKE ROLLERBLADES LOOK COOL, thank you that was releaving. Ok did not get far of into the searies for the rollerblades put me of,among other things i would discuss but i dont know how to activate the spoiler thingy. I think that if not for. Scrach that, if you dont want to read emotionaly empty, bellow average story, with "dudes" fighting wearing rollerblades (gay as hell) dont read this searies.

This manga isnt deserve 5/10 rating. The story is going nowhere randomly, i used to love this manga when the story is about the airgear gang wars.

-Artwork (Awesome) one of the coolest in the world of manga
-Fanservice (Useless) meaningless ecchi, especially now when Tool Toul To start to introduce in the story. naked everywhere *even though they using actually using suit
-Story (F**K!) newbie team suddenly become the strongest in just short time? invading aircraft carrier with those silly rollerblade without problem? united states president help them and depending on teenagers in rollerblade to save the world? not to mention power to changing body shape from fat to muscleman and stopping time?
the story is not like that when it started, the airgear they use now is useless and right now just become an ordinary battle-manga with full pages with no words at all

That's the only word for it. Whether it's the translators or the author, you can not take two steps without walking into a bird metaphor. The plot, while unique, can't figure out whether it wants to be a serious battle manga, a emotional tale with romance and betrayal, or a seinen action drama.

Why can't it be all three you think? Well, it can, it's just that this mangacka tries to execute all three simultaneously rather than taking the best parts of the three and mashing them into something wonderful. The result is trying to fit three mangas into one leaves something to be desired in all three categories and every chapter just feels empty and lacks the meaty content and cliffhangers of better page turners.

The characters are likable but have ridiculously unstable personalities that makes it difficult to like any of them except the main protagonist. Even though the manga focuses on the team aspect only 2 characters have well fleshed out expositions. Antagonists' motives are somewhat silly and contrived, and they aren't very well though out either. You learn most of the antagonists' motives through sequences that can be summed up in one line - SURPISE! I'm not who you think I am, let me tell you who I really am for 10 pages where all the pictures are just faces while making as many bird analogies as possible.

And finally, the plot isn't some super elaborate, deep, philosophical reinterpretation of neo-nihilism and that's why everyone's confused. The author's just thick. All in all, skip this one.

A great concept that has been poorly executed. The series started off great. It was fun and light-hearted. The art was awesome also. But sadly, all of that got flushed down the toilet the further the manga went on. Now it became a confusing mess filled with a bunch of random philosophy (which made no sense), dark atmosphere, and half the time you can't even tell what is going on because the art is so clustered. If you read Oh! Great's prior work such as Tenjou Tenge, you can expect more or less the same random and confusing story here. I really feel like Oh! Great has talent as an artist, but as an writer... he's not so "great" as his name states.

After Reading all the released chapters and gotta say, damn its fucking confusing , not just the storyline but the action too, like recently where they show what might happen and now when they really fight. Damn you get confused even when you go from 1st block to 2nd block in the same page. The action is not described properly at all, its like i am reading a page and the next is like i missed a whole lot of pages, i get that sorta feeling when i read this manga, but other than that this manga is pretty interesting i would recommend it.
