i love this more than the first one. in the first one it miffed me that it went through the same old rape-turn-to-love schtick and the art i not so good, but this volume the mangaka have improve her art tremendously and there's no aspect here that i don't like. very funny and have pretty good plot, a really recommended read (though you just have to get through the first volume to appreciate this more).

I love the whole akuma series i think the mangaka did a really good job in art and plot as well as the characters. All the characters had their own edge and tooru will always be one of my fav ukes as well as fuuta for a seme. The art is beatiful as someone did say it was as great as the orignal i feel as if the mangaka kind of changed her style to deepen there realtionship a little. in the end i suggest the heck out of this as well as madarame hiros other works!!!

one ounce of pity for Akiyoshi, it was completely gone in this sequel. He's not just super-thick headed, but also obstinate. They fit each other perfectly though, because Naruse knows just how to reel him in. It's the first time i think the body is a lot more honest, to the extreme, than its owner.

I loved the side story with Shou and Ichi(?), and i'm looking forward to reading their story next. I hope the eldest brother also gets his story told. He sounds like the most interesting of the 3.

The humor was missing for me in this one, i hope the next one has it.

Well, this was just like the prequel, so my commentary remains the same: it wasn’t deep, nor complex, but enjoyable enough to get you going. A little repetitive, yes.

The positive point for me was that there wasn't a real problem presented (like the underdeveloped love x hate relationship from “Kawaii Akuma”), so it's light-headed just how it's supposed to be. There are indeed some conflicts, but they are all part of comedy and not so intense as they were supposed to be in the prequel.

My complains also remain the same.
First of all, Madarame-sensei tends to frequently forget the things she established herself. For instance, right on the first chapter, Akiyoshi, who was supposedly very beautiful according to the prequel's story, was now looked down on by all the girls. Not that this specific pat is a big deal, but just to give an example.
Also, there’s a even worse issue – and regarding that I have to say exactly what I did in the prequel: I like some degree of seriousness. This mangaka seems to have some trouble with making it believable and also to intercalate jokes and drama. And for that I can give two examples:
- When Akiyoshi was crying his heart out and telling Naruse all the things that made him suffer, Naruse didn't take him seriously at all. It was cute that he was doing Akiyoshi's every wish (because he felt guilty? Can’t tell.), but the whole scene was taken as a sex game alone. I know that was the initial intention, but I think it should've got to a touchy scene, not more funny bits.
- What the heck were Akiyoshi's "I love you"s, totally put aside?! He took a whole volume and a couple of chapters to say it and they were whispered and not given enough importance!
The only reason I wasn't more dissatisfied with that part was because, for some random reason, I believe Naruse didn't cheat on Akiyoshi.

The best positive point for is, as always, the sex scenes. They were amazingly hot, even more than in the prequel! Those are the times I think "thank God Madarame-sensei made Naruse grow up!"

Anyways, I was yet again disappointed. “Kawaii Akuma” had no development throughout the story, regarding the characters’ personal growth or the relationship itself. I thought Madarame-sensei had learned her lesson and would compensate for it, but again, by the last chapter of this whole volume, I could tell nothing changed even from the fist chapter of its prequel.

Then came the extra story and…geez, it frustrated the hell out of me!
Ejima cheated on Satou to get his reaction before they could even get lovey-dovey, and Satou didn’t say a thing, even though his expression showed he was pretty hurt?!
On top of that, their relationship didn’t make the slightest progress! They stayed as just fuck buddies and we couldn’t know if they’d ever be a real couple.
It had a bittersweet ending for me because Satou had such low expectations that we don’t even know if they have a relationship or not. Gave the “incomplete” feeling, and I was really sad =/
As for their personalities, I know it’s just a short-story, but Satou’s so plain he doesn’t even have a personality – he almost never speaks, even! Though Ejima is quite a character.

PS: Why, WHY can’t we see Rai-chan’s story?! He’s obviously a gangster or so, since his co-workers call him “Master”, he’s hot, he’s cool…and yet Madarame-sensei gave us only Shou-chan?! C’mon! After all this advertisement on Rai-chan too?

i read this right after its prequel, and i like it partly better, partly not. the main relationship is still as nonsensical, and the love triangle isn't making it any more interesting; all of that doesn't even make sense. the gags between naruse and akiyoshi stopped being funny in the prequel already. and somehow i felt the art here wasn't as good; the panels too crowded maybe? it's still beautiful, mind. the sex is still hot even if not graphic.

what saves this from sinking below average is one of the side stories. i like shota and hisashi, and they promise to be more fun in the next volume. i hope we can do that without raping; shota seems perfectly capable of waiting, and hisashi's utter cluelessness about his true intentions are amusing. the third story is serious, and while i definitely prefer madarame's serious stories, this one doesn't touch me -- it's another obsessive relationship, but there's not enough development to make me care about these people. i am getting the bad feeling now that madarame actually approves of obsession.

I love Madarame Hiro's art. It's nothing that you have seen before. It's weird and hillarious, yet it can turn very hot when the characters are in the mood, hahaha.
I love the characters, it was nice seeing how their relationship continuing. But the two chapters dedicated to Hisashi and Sho, Fuuta's brother, rained on their parade XD You find your self more interested in those two <3 rather than in Akiyoshi and Fuuta~
Still i like them~ I like this authors works. Interesting art and hillarious humor.

Itoshii Akuma is the direct sequel to Kawaii Akuma and follows Akiyoshi and Fuuta as they graduate from high school and begin their university life. In many ways, Itoshii Akuma is just as good as any work we've seen from Madarame Hiro. Gorgeous art, wonderful characters and interesting twists and turns. However, this sequel slightly pales in comparison to its prequel.

There are a couple things that contribute to this. Firstly, the development of Akiyoshi and Fuuta's relationship seems rather rapid. Kawaii Akuma focused solely on the development of their relationship and in Itoshii, only half of the book is dedicated to the much-loved pair. Madarame uses a 'love triangle' to push their buttons and it works well. In particular, look out for the steamy scene at the climax of chapter three. However, like I previously mentioned, it's rushed. I'm a big fan of Madarame, but even I have to admit that their rapid change in attitude leaves the reader feeling a bit puzzled.

Secondly, there is one very big scene stealer featured in this volume and his name is Shota. Shota is Fuuta's second-eldest brother and you may remember him from Hishashi's Diary in Kawaii Akuma. He's gorgeous, hilarious and completely obsessed with Hisashi. This might be a bit of a purist point to make, but the focus really should be on the main pair, and when you find yourself more into Fuuta's brother than Fuuta himself, it does take away from the story.

All that being said, Itoshii Akuma is still plenty full of great fun. The old and new characters are superb and the story is full of Madarame Hiro's unique brand of sarcastic humour, quirky tsundere ukes and devilish semes. The contribution of a new and unrelated multiple-chapter story is also welcome with the new characters, Ejima and Satou, making a nice contrast to the main couple.

Still, I'd really desperately love to see some more of Shota...
