Good enough. Bad enough.

I thought I'd be rebellious and say, I LOVE THIS ONE!! but no, I didn't, especially after the main story. I couldn't forgive the friend for being such a stubborn a--hole. It didn't resolve nicely enough for me to overlook his hurting the main and insulting the nice female character (a good female character in yaoi!)

The only story I like was the oneshot with the nerd. That one was surprising and cute.

I agree with lifeincircuit that there were way too many generic "seme saves uke" scenarios thrown in, it was like "oh look, he's in danger AGAIN" and I got close to having to seriously roll my eyes at that. Of course, the thought behind that was partly the theme of wounds as a reminder of painful love, but - dunno. It was a bit too princess-y. Other than that, the story was pretty sweet, if nothing to write home about. I liked that the mangaka took time to develop the relationship, there's nothing rushed here and no sudden jumps where you think "how did that happen? how did they *get* there?", but I also agree that the uke was much more developed and consistent than the seme (well... one can only assume that those are their respective roles, as there are no sex scenes at all, but judging by the genericness of it all, it's safe to think that that's how it is between them). Unfortunately, the mangaka chose the usual route of assigning the deeper love to the uke and the seme just happening to follow up, and doing quite a lot of jerky things on the way there. I don't really like this idea of "manliness" that's so common in yaoi, as it leaves me a bit unsatisfied after seeing all the suffering the uke has gone through, and then the seme goes "oh well, yeah, it's love I suppose? Hahaha. Let's make out!" Then again, it's not *quite* like that here, as the seme does go through a relatively painful phase of realisation, even if it's a short one - but still, the underlying basic idea is the same.

Anyway, it's a nice enough story to read, there's certainly worse ways to spend your time. Just don't expect something mindblowing.

One might say that the manga is typical but it has a certain charm to it. I didn't like the art at all but I liked the story biggrin It's light, fun and fluffy... well not overly fluffy but the kind that makes you want to go "awww".

This was written in a pretty digestible manner, so it's not without merit. Ei is fairly likeable, though I cannot say the same for Yuuji. For a while I did find myself attached to Ei. That said, it's insanely melodramatic, even for highschool students, and that makes it a pretty painful read if you're not into that sort of thing. So many tears! So many floaty background flowers! This was like some unsettling chimera formed from shoujo and yuri, only they're boys. I don't quite understand why this has such a high rating as it seems pretty generic and a little nauseating. How many stereotypical ways did Yuuji save Ei? It was a bit much.

This story is kinda typical. Loving ur best friend, a male, and dare not confess.
However, the author hav uniqueness in her manga that make it adorable and not boring.
I do agree that Ei is just a typical, normal guy, no special attractive points, but i still like him
bcoz of one thing; unlike other manga, the uke will try to fade themselves away from their beloved friends when they realized their feeling, but Ei actually still try to be the best friend of Yuuji, even support Yuuji to hav girlfriend while silently trying to let his feeling die down. Yuuji is also a typical popular seme, but i also like him bcoz of the scene that when he realized he had hurt Ei, even tho they were still fighting at that time, he completely forgets the grudge he hold against Ei and even cry. When i saw him cried I was like "Awwww, he's such a sweet seme!!! <3" lol

I disagree with the comment below tho. Ei is not a coward. I think its very hard to confess your feeling when tht person is ur friend, and the same sex. I completely understand since i hav experience. I hav love one guy and he's my friend too and its so hard to gather ur courage to tell him (im a girl btw lol)

So, overall this manga is pretty good. Not very great but is lovely to read : )

I was wondering why I rated this so high, and rereading it made me remember: it was the character Ei. He's just so... normal, it actually was amazing. I mean, he's not really smart, dumb, super sporty, a player, klutz, extremely happy or mean, quiet or loud, just a really average everyday guy you might find anywhere, and I loved that. It's so hard to find characters in that way. And I think it's natural for him to be scared in confessing, considering it's his best friend, male, who's also a player, heck even I'd be scared confessing to a guy I like, because rejection is hard.

Anyway, story wise, your everyday plot of best friends turned lovers in high school setting. I think what made this work for me was the characters. Yuuji's certainly a hotheaded rash type of guy, and some of the things he did didn't make me particularly keen with him. But, he is sweet to Ei in his own sort of way. The girl, can't remember her name, has a surprisingly fairly strong role, which is rare since most BL make it seem like the world is made of males.

The two extra unrelated stories were okay. The first for the characters, the second for the story. For me, they're pretty even in preference, but probably the second one ranks a little higher.

And art? It's Tateno Makoto!

Overall, I think I overrated this one a little, but Ei, though a little girly looking, is awesome. (I sound obsessed...)

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I dont like that when Yuuji starts to have feelings for Ei he gets himself a girl friend, but he butts in when Ei tries to get himself a girl friend. i would have liked it better if Ei had gotten another girl friend or even a boyfriend when Yuuji was dating around. Yuuji was such a moron, very immature. and Ei was so cowardly that he wouldnt confess his feelings. but it wasnt a bad story, kinda cute. one thing that bugs me is that Yuuji is obviously still interested in girls, which doesnt bode well for them future. especially since this author did another story where one of the guys is Bi and he leaves his boyfriend to sleep around with girls, i get the feeling the same will happen with these two.
