i like this manga but i stopped reading it cuz it took too long for new chapters to come out. im in chapter 62 or 63. its a good story but sometimes it jus drags on too long. its on vol 18 and ongoing so i guess i wont start reading it again until its done or close to being done cuz i hate waiting too long for jus a chapter.
edit: i hav been waitin for this to END....i stopped reading after chapter 63 cuz it was so slow, and from some of the newer comments, it seems like nothing really happened. and it is still not over.

I have read many manga. Many of them I am still waiting for new chapters to come out. Some I have finished. Well I started this one a couple days ago and I have to say I LOVE IT. It's super funny and the main character Mugi Tadano is not that complex. Usually, in manga like this, the main character is usually a super complex character who battles with himself over who he should be with this girl or that girl, but Mugi is different. He loves Yuu and that's it lol. Well, I love it and don't really care if it has ecchi because i know that why some people bitch about certain mangas. It's just a regular slice of life manga that has some good art.

Well nice art, it's cute, pretty but ... empty.
Given that the female & male lead are too perfect, too gentle, they have no spirit, so nothing happens. Only the side characters are living. The author should have hired someone better to write the little part of the story between the beginning and the end. Well I forgot to say that I stopped reading in the middle, too disappointed by the evident filler.
Come on, each chapter begins like the heroe wanting to confess. Then, he got the good mood, the great timing, to do it and the chapter ends with a "no I can't say it, she is just too cute". Ok now take my previous sentence, replace chapter by volume and you got the pattern of the serie. Very angry too have wasted my time on reading it. You want romance and no sterile romance (in fact, there is absolutly no romance) read something else like I's, Suzuka. It is a real flaw since Pastel is labelled as ROMANCE genre?!?
Really don't get caught by the great drawing quality. There are many other "cute" manga. Pastel belongs to the superficial manga that count only on the drawing to sell, like many others but at least in the other ones there is some action battle. Pastel really FAILS as a "romance" manga.

it starts out real sweet yet kinda cliche - a guy likes a girl because she's gorgeous (I really don't like that approach one bit) but because of her circumstances, he doesn't dare show his affection to prevent making things even more difficult for her.
But after the first 10 volumes, it seems the author ran out of things to write about yet he still wants to drag it out for some quick cash. Even after the supposedly climax being the confession from the protagonist, things are still going very very slowly and uneventful (volume 16 17 onwards) - basically going nowhere with no real complications and answers to speak of.
plus I think the contrast is too much - the girl looks just too good, acts too stereotypical and basically provides a lot of fan service for nothing much really.
way to ruin a very promising story - I know he's rushed to write up stuff, but I think it'd help if he had an outline for the whole story. Gives us some complications, some heart breaking moments, just..... something...
this series is put in my... wait till 2-3 volumes come out before reading it - category.

As of V16 C85:
I really liked this series at first, but it turned into a real drag after the first few volumes. In the beginning it felt like a real story about two people learning to live together and the changes and growth in them and in their relationship as they got to be friends, dealt with other people, etc.
But then the story stopped moving, the character development died, and the relationship between Mugi and Yuu just stopped going anywhere. In volume 16, they've spent most of the last three years together, yet they got along better, communicated more, and seemed closer together at the beginning of volume 3 when they'd only known each other a few weeks.
The other thing that bothers me is that, after the first couple of volumes, the relationship between Mugi and Yuu seems to get more and more lopsided. Mugi always seems to have Yuu's interest at heart, he looks out for her, tries to be loyal to her and is a pretty good friend to her. Yuu often takes Mugi for granted, doesn't really seem to put much into the relationship, and rarely shows any interest in being loyal to him or being a real friend.
At the beginning of the series I really liked Yuu, but now I'm almost wishing Mugi would dump her and find somebody who is more interested in being a good friend and working at building a relationship with him.
Edit:
I've pretty much given up on this series. Started out with the potential to be a good story, but eventually wound up as nothing more than a sit-com: just a string of diconnected episodes with almost no plot or real story line to tie things together and keep it interesting.

I've read the first few chapters of it, and I didn't like it at all and I guess I stopped after that. The art was nice, very bubbly and warm, but I just don't like the character Yuu. The author has made her too hollow, she's seems.. empty... you know? Even though she's one of the main characters... I still think she seems quite hollow, it's like as if there's something missing from her, but we just can't pinpoint it.
Bit dragged out story but it's getting there.

It felt that the manga was pretty much over already at chapter 17ish and that it could have had a really nice ending there, even though it would have been a bit short. It wasn't quite the story I first imagined, I thought he'd travel the world or something in search for her but it was probably better the way it was. Felt a bit slow and dragged out, and quite a few frustrated feelings over the main char. But now at chapter 82 It's getting quite interesting again. Nice artwork and characters. The conversations and story are flowing quite natural as well (Considering the main chars personality).

Being a large burly man, I have read mostly bloody and violent manga etc. But I need Warm And Fuzzy Feelings every so often to keep going. I read most of Ichigo 100% until the drama started turning my stomach sour, and similar is coming on with Suzuka so I've put that one down. However, Pastel doesn't cause this. I find it to be warmer and far more comfortable. I did not give it a 10 because I do agree the mangaka could have sped a few things up. Overall I've found the artwork to be very enjoyable, and the characters pretty fun. This isn't mindblowing by any means, but this IS fun and something I can read without needing tums. Just call me a big softie.

I had a big smile on my face but not before going through all that "at the edge" moments. I agree with eNviS, I mean what the &*%^!!! If that chapter 80 doesnt come, I will seriously kick my laptop.. I gave 8.5, because I am neither nine-ing or eight-ing this manga (this author left me undecided).
Hmmm.. the charater changed.. I mean, Yuu's personality changed. gah!!.. i'm getting irritated with the author..
