Description
From Tokyopop:

Now, those of the Demon world are rising up to wipe out these offspring - led by the cool and confident assasin, Ushitora. Ushitora betrays his people, instead sacrificing himself to a life on the run, in order to care for Masato and a spirited orphaned girl named Nao.

Give this series a try

It seems that none of the previous reviewers have read the whole series

The art style takes awhile to get used to. I've seen worse. Story-wise, I feel that I would've enjoyed this series more in my younger years. I've read more captivating stories, however, Kuruizaki no Hana isn't bad. I recommend giving a try. Be warned though, volume 1 has the happiest parts of the whole series imo.

On another note, I was pleasantly surprised that the shounen-ai part wasn't brief or shallow as I usually see the aspect played in a shoujo series. Don't worry to non-BL readers, there's nothing explicit at all in regards to the BL.

A friend of mine managed to get a hold of this out of print manga and was raving about it to me, so I borrowed the first volume. I was not at all fond of the artwork. It wasn't atrocious, but it was weirdly geometrical and just plain... odd. Look at the first volume cover. Now, I just finished an anatomy and physiology course, but I didn't need to have that knowledge to know that necks aren't that long and certainly don't bend that way. Honestly, the whole thing just looked like Dr. Seuss tried to draw manga, and I have never liked Dr. Seuss's art. Aside from that, faces are drawn really strangely, making it hard to discern emotion from them, and the two main male characters look so similar it's hard to tell who's who. To me, it looks like the author tried way too hard to make her art look "unique" and "original," but it's just too much.

I'm not a person who lets mediocre art keep me from reading a good story. However, this story didn't really catch my interest. The idea of an assassin falling for his mark has been done before, and there wasn't really anything here to freshen it up. The plot didn't grab me. Random things just kept happening to the characters to no aim, it seemed. The characters themselves were fairly typical. I didn't feel sympathy for them, nor was I compelled to try and understand their motives. Everything about them was laid out like a dictionary definition, telling rather than showing me why they behave the way they do. They lacked depth, and there wasn't any mystery to them. Essentially, they were "what you see is what you get," no strings attached. The whole manga was just really... boring. Like I said before, there just wasn't anything jumping out at me and grabbing my attention.

I barely finished the first volume and declined to borrow the second. I guess I can see how some people like this manga, but for me, it was just... boring. I'll rate it a 2 because it wasn't awful, but it wasn't really good, and the art didn't do anything for it.

i brought volumes one and two online because i thought the blurb sounded good. from what i have read so far, the story line is interesting as well as the characters although i would only rate this a 7/10 as the art isn't to my preferance (they are long and thin and there eyes are really small and streched out- but i do like the way the the mangaka draws their hair!!!) all in all, a good read. its just a shame that its been dropped and no one has scanalated it... biggrin

Not a bad buy, though I've only read volumes 1 and 2. The art is on one hand, quite nice, on the other hand, rather messy. The dialogue makes it very interesting. Definitely worth a look at.

Tokyopop dropped this at vol 4, and it seems it's quite hard to find now.

This manga is awesome. I've only read up to volume three, as there's no scanlations, so i have to wait for it to be rleaed here Dx

Hopefully it doesn't end like The Demon Ororon! But at the end of volume 3 is kind of seems this way.

I just finished reading Ororon, and although I liked it I like Demon Flowers more. The characters are just... better, in my opinion =P

I finally got my hands on the first volume of this manga at AX, so I'm going to go ahead and review it(but my review may/may not be too complete, as I've ONLY seen the first volume so far).

Anyway, I liked the beginning. It was very eye-catching and it begins with a bloody little scene that just shocks you and makes you sit up straight and pay attention. The art's similar to how it was in Demon Ororon, so no big changes there.
The storyline's...a little hard to explain with just the first volume. There's too much that hasn't happened yet, so I can't really explain it too well. Just know that it involves more than a little blood on someone's hands, and demons. Lots of them, and bloodthirsty ones too.
Also, the summary Tokyopop has for this series is pretty good; it hits all the main points of the plot.
All I can really say is: a)Ushitora is awesome. And he looks like the anti-hero of Demon Ororon, only with spikier, cooler hair. b)the storyline's coming along, and it looks promising and c)the first volume left me wanting WAY more. Does that tell you anything?

I really wish there are online scanlations for this, but it looks like this isn't happening anytime soon. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

BTW. If you've read Demon Ororon and loved it, then you should love this. Well, most likely. The storyline's a little similar, what with demons and all, but it's veering off in its own direction. So, give it a chance if you liked the other series.
