This is some quality stuff. Some will say it's just a fanfic for Asuka fans, and I suppose they're right to a point. However, this is much more than that. It is stunning because the characters are so in character you could almost swear you're reading canon stuff. Definitely worth a read for Eva fans. My eye even watered at the end.

What else can be said about this Doujinshi that hasn't already been said? It was pure brilliance. The story was great, the characters were great, and the story was (in danger of sounding redundant) great. There were no flaws in this whatsoever. I mean, it blew me away that some fans were able to "expand" the ending in this way. I would love to see this turned into an anime (maybe into a few OVAs), but that's not likely since this was done by fans. In my opinion, this "ending" was better than the ending of the original anime. If anyone is worried about the H scenes, then you should know that they aren't very extreme. The scenes are very innocent in nature since they are there just to show the love between two characters. So that shouldn't make one hesitate to read it.

I also liked how the characters were portrayed. As Evangelion fans know, Shinji is a little b___h in the anime. A spineless main character who frustrated me throughout the entire series. He isn't portrayed that way here at all. If anything he resembles the Shinji in the manga, who is a more daring character (but still suffers from inferiority complex). After reading this doujinshi, I started liking Shinji more (which actually made me hate the anime Shinji even more when I went back a re-watched the series).

To sum everything up, this is a must read for Evangelion fans. Any true fan of Evangelion would love reading this doujinshi.

I could fully accept this as being the cannon end to the Evangelion series. Its just that good. Perfect representation of the individual characters. Great Art. Its just good on all fronts.

I'm just counting down the days until this is animated.

A perfect 10.

The Best

"In accepting death,
I must now measure
what my life was."

Pure brilliance.
One of my most favourite reads ever. I've probably gone through it six or seven times and it never gets boring. It's just so deep on so many levels, and so many aspects of the story keep true to the original. It plays so many parallels to the different stories in the original. The plot twists are unexpected and shocking. The sex is worked in seamlessly.
The depth of the story is amazing. Just pure brilliance. Shinji, Asuka and Rei are all portrayed perfectly. Their personalities are exactly as they would be if it were to continue like this from the anime/manga. The character development is great. Shinji actually grows from his wimpy spineless self to a real man. And it really puts a lot of insight to the relationship between Asuka and Shinji, as well as Shinji and Rei's relationship.
I just love how well the story flows. Everything just seems so meaningful. You take a look at it, and there are so many different layers to the story. It even incorporates direct references to both the anime and the manga, not just one or the other, which really impressed me. You could read it over quite a few times and each time you would probably find something new, like a metaphor or allusion, that makes you think "Wow". Asuka always says the most interesting things.
"Just looking at you
makes me want to throw up."

The artwork is seamless. Perfect. You might as well say it was Sadamoto Yoshiyuki drawing this. It might even be better.
The emotions it brings up are great. It takes you everywhere; wondrously happy, to tearfully sad, etc. Chapter 02 specifically, I found to be quite tearful the first time through.
The ending seems very resolved. Especially when compared to the original. Whether it's the end of Chapter 04, or Re-Take After, it brings a definite conclusion to either story. The last page on Chapter 04 is just... Great.

Re-Take After is a continuation of this parallel universe and what would happen in it after the ending of Re-Take, just before those last few colour pages kick in. It gave it a nice happy ending though.

I personally enjoyed the original anime's ending. This manga however only contributes to the greatness that the Evangelion series is!
This is a must read for all Eva fans as the Eva series is for all anime fans smile (in my opinion).

But of course thats how Evangelion has always been. Think it through a bit though and it will all fall together with a little time, this can definitely be seen as a much more worthy end to the series.

If the "real" ending left you feeling a bit angry, reading this will certainly help to soothe your rage.

Words just pale to describe what I felt after reading this doujin. As doujins go..no as manga goes this gives a great conclusion to an already amazing series...I have always been a fan of Eva but have always been irked by how the anime ended. I have always wanted the whole ShinjixAsuka connection and have been aching for him to gain some backbone. This doujin really satisfied all aspects that I think the series should've had. This more than deserves the 10 rating. This is the ending that should've been.

This doujin manga is absolutely stunningly beautiful. Words can't describe how impressed and deeply moved I was by this.

The adult content is seamlessly incorporated into a wonderful story and rather than making it tacky and shallow it adds even more depth and meaning to the characters and their lives.
The Shinji in this manga is much more likeable and you can really understand his feelings here much more than the anime. I found that I liked and became far more familiar with most of the characters in this. Except Shinji's father. He's just a dick. But that's how he's meant to be I suppose.

Truly romance and drama at its best. Makes me want to rewatch the series.
