What a shame!!

Honestly, I think the biggest issue with this manga was the year it was released. If this had been released just a few years later, I think it would've lived for at least 10 volumes.

I'm personally not a fujoshi, but I'm pretty sure the BL subtext and the pretty art would've drawn in huge crowds of fans eager to create a thriving fandom. Had it not been released so early, I think it could have amassed the same sort of fervor and shipping-wars as Haikyuu!!

Sure, the characters needed a bit more work, but they didn't even get a chance to develop before the series was axed. And the main character was so interesting, and had such potential...! A smol athlete as the main character isn't a new trope, but it was new and refreshing to give him a backbone and strong-will, without an exaggerated ego/overconfidence.

Really, truly, honestly, such a shame. Eyeshield 21 has been mentioned, and it's also a good, older sports manga, but I think All Out!! is a better alternative to this manga, as it focuses on rugby (though the main character is not as talented).

You know that feeling when your nose itches and you feel a sneeze coming on and you're all ready to sneeze it out and then you're on the second 'ah' but the 'choo' suddenly backed out on you? Yeah that's how I feel about this manga.

After chapter 10, when they were realizing their shortcomings and weaknesses and just about becoming a proper team I was like 'oh yeah now the game begins' and then I'm on chapter 13 and I realize that 'fuck the next one's the last chapter? are you shitting me?' I mean they didn't even get to play ONE. REAL.GAME. Like what is up with thatconfused??

I'm just so frustrated with all the potential that was lost when the author ended the manga at that, this would have easily been one of my fave sports manga. UGH

I enjoyed all the BL undertones tho lol hooray for bromance that looks so gay i love it huehue

This manga really REALLY had potential. It's a shame it ended before reaching it. I got attached to the characters fast and wished to know more about the backstory of the main character and his dad.

And for some reason, this screams "BL UNDERTONE" when reading this. Either it's my raging fangirl inside me or it's the drawing/communication between the characters. *facepalm*

I hope that this series wilL have a sequel, kinda axed, I think.. , I like the protagonist here much more than Sena because he has a backbone unlike the latter. Their endings were alike, they didn't show when The devil bats play the x-mas bowl(atleast not in the anime)while here, in Hanazono..

Cute! And Determined!

I have to say that this is one of the cutest sports manga I have come across. For fangirls, this could be one of the cutest couples grouping around. Sadly, I still don't know the rules to Rugby so it is a bit hard to follow at times. Unlike Eyeshield 21 that is very helpful thanks to the mascot given, this manga has potential. The only major plus about this manga is the background situation of one of the main characters, Akira. Not to mention the cute reactions he has with his teammates, such as Yui.

this is one sports series that kind of annoyed me. I don't know if it will be better later, but as of right now the main team is unmotivated and has only few good/passible members. While I was entertained by the main character's lack of social understanding at first; the other main characters angst about their club being small and not good seems silly and stupid. Go to another school. It's not like the school had a great rugby program in the first place.

This isn't a good teamsport type manga, it is too developed around a handful of good players. Also the author needs to learn that X relative played Rugby can not be used for everyone's backstory without it getting old. ((alright that's just mean on my part, sorry))

I also was utterly disgusted with the other team. I get that your member is in a wheel chair, but how is that an excuse for completely destroying a club of 15? How does beating a team so badly that they just wish the game would be over at HALF-TIME have any justification, ever? It would be one thing if the Main Characters team did the whole "We won't give up!!" thing, but they didn't. They just realized that no matter what they did or how hard they tried they were worthless players that just brought their team down. But don't worry that Ace Kicker is an Ace Runner too, apparently, so You Got 2 Friggn goals total. have fun contributing NOTHING and relying on a freshman and your captain.

An Exciting Manga

At chapter 5: Thinking this has as much potential as Eyeshield 21 in getting the popularity of Rugby in Japan going. It's really exciting and seems to use the techniques of Rugby seven in 15 man Rugby to put pace in the manga.

It's quite a good storyline and although the protagonist is Bishounen, the characters around him make up for it. It has a clear goal just like Eyeshield and it seems like they will have to work alot harder smile Can't wait for the rest.

Update -

Chapter 14 (end): How disapointing it was to see the manga end so abruptly especially in such a weak ending! I mean yes NZ vs Aus is a great match to go to but i was hoping the players would take something from the match. It was really starting to get good. The author had opened up the gates to allow for character development and a good goal(s) to aim for. Easily a manga that could've continued for 20+ volumes. I think the author went slightly to BL but it still worked... or at least didn't stop me reading.

I really enjoyed the match against Takaese and the unveiling of a genius rugbyman that is Akira, using the same rodeo technique as in Eyeshield21 :) loving it. I really hope the author can pick this up again, making it less bishounen and more shounen. However it was still a really enjoyable read. That takaese match, AWESOME!!!
